I thought you may enjoy a little silliness on a Saturday!
There once was a girl from Spoodle Who loved to sit and doodle For hours on end She’d sit with a pen While eating a bowl of noodles!
Now here is my illustrated version:
Do you like to doodle like me? Then you may be interested in taking an online art class with Diane Culhane that starts April 21st. For a short video and info:
Last night I took one of my gelli-prints:
And looked for images in it to create a doodle:
I also like to doodle while watching TV. This is one I started the other night:
I find it very relaxing to draw patterns with a black pen. I get some of my ideas from Zentangles. I also like to look at the patterns and shapes around me. Below is my progress I’ve made on this doodle:
Can you find the dragonfly, 2 birds, a spider and its web and a caterpillar?
Have a fabulous day!
So cute! Thanks for the inspiration Jill!!

Ahaha, are you talking about me? My dog looks like a poodle but is a Bichon. This is adorable!

I love your sweet Bichon! I posted the other day about a friend’s dog that is a Bichon Maltese Yorkie! And the neighbor behind us has a full size poodle named, Rose! Guess I have poodle breeds on the brain! 😊😊😊

Jill, are you taking Diane’s class? I’d like to but I don’t know if I can handle another class on top of Year of the Spark.

Hi Carol! Yes, I could not pass it up! Although I’m taking several classes right now. At least this one is only 2 weeks! I figured I could put some of the others on the back burner for awhile. 😊

Jill, I would really love to be able to do intricate doodles like the one you created above. Can you recommend any books on this? I know you were inspired by zentangles – any others? I really love this.

Thank you Laura! I think these just come from practice. I have tried doing the Zentangles in their format but I prefer just drawing from my imagination. I also will try out patterns in my sketchbook. I like to look at the patterns in objects or flowers or whatever is around me for ideas. I like the Micron pens but they tend to run out of ink rather quickly. I have found I like to use a Zig Writer pen lately. I really like Beckah Kradula’s books. I actually have a couple of my patterns published in her 500 Tangles book. Hope this helps! 😊
