The Bazooka Bird

Have you heard of Bazooka chewing gum?Mockingbird 2

Well, the Bazooka Bird is related!

According to Wikipedia, “Bazooka bubble gum was first marketed shortly after World War II in the U.S. by the Topps Company of Brooklyn, New York. The gum was packaged in a red, white, and blue colour scheme.”

The Bazooka bird has the ability to chew gum AND blow bubbles at the same time!  WOWZA!

This bird looks a lot like a Mockingbird which is best known for imitating sounds of other birds, insects (and teenagers who like to pop their chewing gum).

Mockingbird 1

The Bazooka chewing gum included a small comic strip with their gum until November of 2012 when the company changed to a brain teaser.  (Who knew we should have collected those comic wrappers.  Ha!)

Bazooka Joe was a comic strip character, featured on small comics included inside individually wrapped pieces of Bazooka bubblegum. He wore a black eyepatch, lending him a distinctive appearance.”

Here is  the Bazooka “Joe” Bird:

Did you notice the black eyepatch?
