Summer is the time that I like to curl up in the shade and read a good book. So I decided to make a couple of bookmarkers with my silly fish:
I drew them with a black Micron pen and then colored with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils.
I think I like “Baby Face” the best! 🙂 Do you have a favorite?
I am currently reading this book, “Sarah’s Key” by Tatiana de Rosnay:
It is an excellent story about July 1942, the days of the Vel’ d’Hiv’ in Nazi-occupied Paris. Have you read it?
I borrowed my book from a friend so I thought I’d return it with one of my fish bookmarkers.
I also made one to keep for myself – this one is double-sided:
I used cheap watercolors and Prismacolor pencils to color this one.
What book you are reading or would you recommend? I’d love to hear from you!
Happy Reading! 🙂
I have read it. In fact it was one of our book club books. I don’t think it was one of our favourite books but it did generate quite a bit of discussion.

Thanks Carol! What books do you like to read? Do you have one you can recommend to me after I finish this one? 😊

Hmmm…a few of my favorites have been “All the light We Cannon See” by Anthony Doerr, “Peace Like A River” by Leif Enger, and for a lighter read, “Saving Ceecee Honeycutt” by Beth Hoffman. Of course, “The Book Thief” is perhaps tops of the list.
If I lived closer, I would offer you my bookshelf to peruse with the hopes of getting it returned with a bookmark! 🙂

Thanks Kathy for your recommendations! Apparently, “All the Light We Cannot See,” is a popular one. You are the third person to suggest it. 🙂 Loved the Book Thief too! Wish I lived closer too. If you email me your address, I will send you a bookmark in the mail. 🙂

Kathy, you have excellent taste! Book Thief is in my top five all-time reads. And I loved Ceecee and All the Light too. I’ll have to try that Enger book. Have you read Blind Assassin by Atwood? Oh, I’d love to hear more book recs from you!
Jill, this was a great topic!

I will put that on my “to-read” list. We will indeed have to share some more recommendations! For now, I will just add “The Kite Runner” – though I suspect you have already read it. 🙂

I would recommend Little Women, or any other books by Louisa May Alcott. Her practical wisdom speaks to me still, even in a completely different century.

Really like the bookmarks. Good idea, I might borrow that idea, if I may 🙂 I’m reading Max Tegmarks book about our mathematical universe. Exciting reading that twists your mind.

OMG are these book marks cute – and what an awesome idea to give when returning a borrowed book! I love so many of your cute little fishies – the paint brush, key, ear, lamp, scisscors – oh my – you are sooooo creative! They are each adorable and creative and fun! I haven’t read Sarah’s Keys – picked it up a couple of times and just didn’t hit me. I LOVED “All the Light We Cannot See” that our book club recently read. An all-time favorite is “The Red Tent.” One I have on my bookshelf that I’ve been looking forward to reading hopefully soon is Sue Monk Kidd’s “The Invention of Wings.”

Thank you Jodi! I can see you making some of these bookmarkers with your creative stamps and papers! You could even try watercolors – now, that would be cool! Thanks for sharing which fish you liked! 🙂 The writing is good in Sarah’s Keys. It is one of those that you can’t put down once you start. I will have to get the one you recently recommended from book club. I have read the Red Tent. You will have to let me know how you like, The Invention of Wings! 🙂

Where do I begin: The Birth House, All the Light we Cannot See, The Rosie Project, The Rosie Effect, Headmaster’s Wager, The Immortal Life of Henriettia Lack (non-fiction), The Life of Pi, The Girls, Water for Elephants, The Bishop’s Man, February, The Sisters Brothers, Through Black Spruce, Room, Fall on Your Knees. The last one I haven’t read but so many people I know love it so I’m hoping to get a copy this summer.

Good choice. It was the last book we read and our book club loved it. I’ve belonged to this book club for over five years so that’s over 60 books. I also read a lot in the summer when I have more time.

Jill, I loved “Sarah’s Key”. All the Light was a great book too. And Book Thief! Another by Zusak is “I am the Messenger”. That was wonderful. Cee Cee Honeycutt was really good. Kathy has excellent taste in books! I used to read many, many books a year when I had no energy to do anything else. Now, I read art books (nonfiction), but have you tried “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Tracy Chevalier? About Vermeer? That was good. I’m currently reading “Grasshopper” by Barbara Vine, who’s a new author to me and I am loving it. Love your cute bookmarks as well! I think I like Flirty best. Hehe! Happy Reading!

I am more of a thriller, fictional, quick read for the beach kind of gal….not the books that increase your knowledge kind of thing…haha Those bookmarks are wonderful though….I have seen people take them to the printer and get them laminated….those are worth laminating!!

Do you have a favorite author you like to read, Rebecca? I’m always looking for a good book to read and enjoy those quick reads too. And good idea about getting the book markers laminated! 😊
