One Square Block

What do you see when you look at this block of wood?

One Square Block

It’s size is 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 inch square and almost 1 1/2 inch thick.

My first thought was the Charlie Brown comic strip and Lucy yelling, “You BLOCKHEAD!” at Charlie Brown.  LOL!

It also reminds me of an elderly lady that lived “around the block” from my childhood home.  My friends and I called her Grandma Johnson, although she was no relation to any of us!  I remember her treating us with cookies and occasionally stale marsh mellows when we stopped by her home to play with her pile of wood blocks.  She used the scrap wood to heat her old home which seemed a little odd to me as a child but I loved playing with those blocks!  🙂

Maybe it is these memories that sparked a creative idea in me when I saw a scrap block of wood recently.  I see many artistic possibilities!

    Does it have to be a square that we bring? I have a (small) square piece of canvas I’ve set aside months ago that I should go ahead and finish. I’m dying to see what your block turns into, Jill! 💜💜💜

    Haha, at first I saw a cutting board because we have a cutting board that looks almost exactly like that. 🙂 But I can’t wait to see what you do with it!

        I’m going to be at a beach party – teehee – literally – so have to pass this time – but definitely next time – I do have a week of posts scheduled and will be reading and checking in – can’t miss my fun peeps here, but already scheduled.     Oh I have just the thing!! I have a project I’ve been dying to try and just got the mats for it. And it’s square!! Woo hoo!!
