Hang Loose!

My last fish for this week is the Reef Triggerfish, also known by its Hawaiian name – humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa  (pronounced [ˈhumuˈhumuˈnukuˈnukuˈwaːpuˈwɐʔə])  or just humuhumu for short; meaning “triggerfish with a snout like a pig.

Here is my Humuhumu Fish:

my Hawaiian fish

I dressed it up in a fine Hawaiian shirt just for today!  🙂

This fish is the Hawaiian State Fish!  The REAL fish is very colorful too. The triggerfish can wedge itself into small crevices and lock its spine to make it extremely difficult to get out. In addition, when fleeing from predators, the triggerfish will sometimes make grunting noises, possibly a call to warn other nearby triggerfish of danger.

Hang Loose!  And have an awesome weekend!  🙂

Happy Fishing!
