Fruitful Patterns

Remember the watercolor I posted on Tuesday of a pear and apple?

Well, I wasn’t totally thrilled with it… so I decided to experiment and add some color pencils to it.   Using my Prismacolor pencils, I added different colors in a basket weave pattern:

I finished it by adding more patterns for the shadows of the fruit and squiggles (a very technical term, lol) to the bottom half of the painting:

I really like how this turned out!  What do you think?!  I’d love to hear from you!  🙂

Happy Experimenting!  :-)))

  2. Thought the original was lovely, but this is fantastic. Am a big fan of experimenting with paintings, they can lead to great creative results and discoveries. Also love texture and pattern, and on your fruit still life they are eye catching. Thank you for sharing and happy experimenting!

  15. Jillie,
Loved the still of the pears…beautiful colors. The shadowing added depth for sure but enjoyed the original. Your attention to detail is your art.

  21. Wow, you turned these into very beautiful piece Jill. Like the basket weave idea a lot. I have to do an exercise like that too, but didn’t feel like the black and whiteness of it. Doing it in colored pencils would be fun. Thanks so much for the idea. It was and is brilliant move! Wow.
