I started with a quick charcoal sketch in my sketchbook:

Then a quick contour sketch in pen:

Some blind contour sketches that look kind of strange:

Colored my contour ink drawing with Neocolors:

And softened them with water:

  1. Cool stuff today Jill!
I love seeing other artist’s processes, it’s always enlightening and fun.
I like how your finished product turned out.

I also like the your blind contour, it’s very expressive and wild and free. I get a sensation of the passing of time when I look at it, which is kind of cool.

    • Hi Jodi! Blind contour is when you look totally at your subject and draw the outline of it without looking at your paper. First, you do a contour drawing where you sketch your subject slowly while looking at your paper. It helps train your eyes to SEE your subject and draw what you see instead of what you think you see. It is a fun exercise! I hope you give it a try! πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ¨πŸ’

These are great! I’m always scared a second sketch would miss something good from the first. I’ll have to try this.
