Playing with Paints – Part 1

I created these papers on Fabiano hot press 90 lb paper that comes in a tablet.  It is one of my favorite papers to use in my artwork.  It is not really meant for acrylic paint but I make it work to use in other art projects.

It was really fun to splash the paint around!  I used both Golden fluid acrylics and Liquitex heavy body acrylics with a little water. I used my finger for the red dots above.

I used a stencil on these two papers:

And for the one below, I used a chopstick to make the black marks and a sewing pattern wheel to make the tiny dots!

And for this one, I scratched into the wet paint with the end of my paint brush to reveal the colors underneath:

I also used a paper towel in the top left corner and a wax candy wrapper to make the black marks in the upper right.

I hope you will join me tomorrow to see how I use them in a collage!

Happy Creating!  🙂

  1. I’ll definitely be back tomorrow, Jill. I like using acrylic on paper. The friction and quick dry are quite refreshing. x

  2. Oh, I can’t wait, Jill! Dying to see what you create. I was reading a book yesterday (and will revisit today) that made me think of you sooo many times. Hope to be sharing something on the blog before year end. Happy times, my friend! Always enjoy your colors and creativity. 💜💜💜

      • It’s a mixed media book by Danielle Donaldson. I saw her lessons on artists network tv! And she mentioned a book. Luckily the library had but I had to get on holdlist. I think you’d love it! She even incorporates fabric into dresses on the girls she draws and sews watercolor papers into patchwork paper pieces too. She’s really cool.

As to my work, I’ve become hooked on drawing, Jill. I never thought this would happen because I love color. I’ve fallen in love with my daughter’s old drawing pencils from high school and one of the least expensive sketchbooks I own. Hopefully you’ll see something on the blog soonish. But I’m loving the smell of graphite and the feel of it against the paper. Who knew?!

      • Lol not at all! I’m so glad I didn’t ask Santa to send it to you! I was thinking but what if she has it lol. She has a wonderful style and I love how she uses white.

Yeah I have no idea where this train is headed, Jill. Every time I think I have it figured out, *boop* it changes. Will post after Christmas! :)). And in my post, I’ll be asking for audience participation lol! 👍🎁🎨🎄
