Do You Have A Favorite Number?

Some days I struggle with what to draw and write in my art journal.  Does this happen to you too?

Yesterday, I didn’t have much time to create so I gave myself this challenge:

image

It got me thinking about cre8ting art with numbers.  Lots of possibilities here!  Maybe you would like to play along in your own art journal?

The scraps of paper are props for the start of an animal or face.  What would you draw?

The bingo numbers are a prompt to write about a game that involves numbers.  Did you have a favorite card game?  Perhaps you remember playing Bingo?

The measuring tape box is for making a list of anything but it needs to involve numbers.

And the smallest box is your box of magic – make it anything you’d like – but it does need a number in it!  Perhaps you’d like to write your favorite number in it?

I hope to show you my completed journal page on Saturday!  Stay tuned 4 sure!

Happy Journaling!  🙂

  1. Love the paper scraps, I’d turn them into birds I think. I do art to escape numbers so I’m pressing the delete key there lol. I wonder if Paint My Photo might be a great place for inspiration, Jill? http://Www.pmp-art.com or even google images. Your imagination is limitless! Are these paper scraps found papers, or something you’ve created? They’re beautiful.

    • Hi Laura! I actually got my idea for numbers from an article in Uppercase magazine. Thanks for the link to the photos. I often go to Pinterest for ideas too but sometimes I like to create my own challenges. Makes it more fun! 😃 The paper scraps are from Gelli printing on deli paper. 💜

      • They are so rich and deep, Jill! I’ve been watching videos and the library had a couple of books but I have a feeling it’ll take quite some time to get good at this. I bet you took to it like a fish to water!

      • I started playing with Gelli printing before they came out with the Gelli plate by making my own with clear jello. I started doing nature prints. 😍 I fell in love with the technique! 💜 You really can’t go wrong with it. I’d say just start playing! 😃

  2. I’ve been struggling to create all week! 😊 I like the numbers idea, Jill! 💕😃My friend Lorna who was also a guest doodlewasher uses numbers a lot in her paintings. But your post made me think about Bingo and the time when I was a kid and finally won something other than car wax. It was a large tapestry of dogs playing poker that my mother refused to hang upstairs and it ended up hanging above the freezer in our subbasement. I didn’t care…I was still so proud of my “grand prize.” Lol

  6. Yes Jill sometimes happens to me, If I don’t know what to write or draw I will doodle or scribble words sometimes it helps sometimes it doesn’t but I will move on let it pass. Like your challenge

  7. You’ve written a story to challenge yourself! I’m looking forward to the completed illustration.
I have the opposite problem…lists and lists of ideas. I’ll never get to them all. Everything gives me ideas. And whatever I’m doing always gives me even more ideas…(K)

  8. According to numerology my lucky numbers are 8 and 35. Your page reminds me of an art piece that my son submitted to a juried art show. The theme was measurement and he literally placed photos of him measuring things in his community and the measuring tape he used in a shadow box.

  9. Yes, I totally made the connection to Charlie with this post, Jill. The paper scraps remind me of pieces of semi-precious stones embedded in rock (geological artifacts). I like the faces, too.
