Lately, I have been struggling with creative ideas… So I decided to start a collage! Here is my beginnings on a 8×10 inch canvas board – doesn’t she look like a sweet angel?
I randomly chose pages from these books (and fabric pattern) I purchased at thrift stores, yard sales and antique markets:
The papers I choose help me create a story yet I do not think too much about which papers I’m selecting before I glue them down. I also like to include an old photo of someone I do not know. I usually make a copy to preserve the original photo.
Next, I glue them to a surface with Liquitex Gloss Medium and use an old credit card to remove any air bubbles.
A morsel of trivia – According to Wikipedia, the first cookbook to contain an angel food cake recipe was in 1878 from Isabella Stewart in The Home Messenger Book of Tested Recipes.
Tomorrow, I will show you my next step!
Happy Creating! 🙂
You know I love random arrangements of things…looking forward to seeing where it goes next. (K)

so true!!! Can’t wait to hear! I really love the way you’ve done this so far, the way the papers were all torn, yet seem to mesh perfectly together. You really have so many natural gifts, and this is one of them. Beautiful work, looking forward to seeing how it develops.

It’s a wonder collage, Jill! I have a friend who was doing collage/decoupage art with old photos, too. She used to hit yard sales hoping that she’d find old photos that people were tossing out or selling. She doesn’t spend much time online (I don’t think I even have an email for her) or I would share this with her. I think she’d love it! ❤

A creative start! Always fun to put random paper together. Lovely pieces to get you started. It will be nice to see how you progress.
And about the struggle – sometimes it’s good to go slow (remember Carla’s lessons from the year of the fairy tale?) or have another look on the next day. But you know that!
