When I was at the lake last weekend, I saw three Steller’s Jays. They were an unusual sight and very beautiful with their black heads and brilliant blue bodies. So they have influenced me for this week’s Weird Bird Wednesday.
I would like to introduce to you, Stella the Star!
Like all stars, Stella is trying out accessories to see which ones go best with her blue eyes. I’m sure you will be seeing more of Stella Jay in the future! 🙂
Did you know that the word, Stella is a female given name from a Latin word meaning “star?”
I also had to create a few more shoes! Below are some slippers I created with my own stencil and this time I cut them out of my gelli-printed papers:
Apparently, the origin of the word, slipper was in 1478 from the verb, “slip”; the notion being of a shoe that is “slipped” onto the foot.
Stella and I would like to wish you all a “Stellar” day!
Happy Creating! 🙂

Thanks Laura! The Steller’s Jays I saw had feathers that stuck up like this so it gave me the idea. 😃

And we’re all so wrapped up in what the stars are doing, and yet it could help the kid learn about birds, all good stuff! Love this idea! I love that you’re working on a book. 💜

So so so so much to love about this post!!!! I wonder if you remember my Grandma’s name was Stella and she was my STAR! I love your Stella bird doubly because of that! I always love your birds, but one named Stella…. Well – that is just THE BEST! And those slippers – SOOOOO adorable! And the quote – so witty, wonderful, and wise! Love it and you Jilly! 🙂

Hi Jodi! 😃 I think your posts on your grandma helped influence me to create this bird. I didn’t think about it at the time as I was thinking about the Steller’s Jays at the lake but I know your posts about your grandma have touched my heart deeply as you have too, my friend. 😍 I’d like to write a children’s book about Stella Jay. And so I’d love to hear your ideas. You can email me if you want. 😊🌟💜
