Flowers In Her Hair

I painted these flowers in memory of a friend who recently lost her battle with cancer.

I painted them with fluid acrylics on canvas board.  I stamped into the paint with bubble wrap to create the flower centers.

I think many of us have been touched by the lives of people who die from cancer too soon.

I glued some of my gelli-printed deli paper onto the flowers with Matte medium.

My friend was courageous in her fight.  Although we only knew each other online through art classes, I will miss her gentle spirit.

I added Neocolors to finish my painting.

I’d like to think that she is now wearing flowers in her hair like this haiku I wrote:

Flowers in her hair,

Dancing in a meadow free,

Cancer’s chains released.

Peace!

    • Thank you Jodi. It helped me to paint flowers in her memory as she loved flowers. I decided to paint it boldly since she fought a good fight and could now be at peace. Some times art helps me through life’s hurdles. 🙂

    • Thank you for your kind comments. 💜 I regret to hear that you have cancer. Not an easy journey to be on… but one I hope you can beat! No one but you knows what you must deal with daily. I think blogging, journaling and creating art can be a way to travel through the pain. It has helped me deal with some of my difficulties in life. 🎨💐

      • You are absolutely right! All of those avenues are extremely therapeutic. It also helps to read others’ blogs and their expensiveness because it is a remind that I’m not alone. So thank you for doing what you do!
