I had planned to create more than fish this week but life has gotten in the way! So here is my doodle fish I drew with a black Micron pen earlier this week:
Last night I colored it with markers and color pencils – very fun! And colorful!
What do you think about coloring books for adults? Have you purchased them?
I find doodling and coloring to be very calming… how about you?
Cheers! 🙂
I like your doodle fish Jill! Loving the randomness of color lately….

I’d rather do my own art than color someone else’s…(K)

I agree. I like the coloring books to get ideas from, but I’d much rather color something I drew myself!😊Debra

you did an amazing job coloring the fish!! LOVE!!! I’m not a fan of the coloring books simply because I like to create my own art, but I know a lot of people enjoy them.

I like your doodles. They remind me so much of my BBF when she was young. She doodled like this everyday.
I do have adult coloring books and was talking to Debra from https://debranancy.wordpress.com/2017/09/07/color-me-peaceful/ about them just this morning! She blogged about Adult Coloring books too.
I bought them to use with watercolor paint to open up my creative channels, but I haven’t been able to get into them. Perhaps with crayons or colored pencils I’ll do better with them? I tore out a page and copied it to use with crayons. We’ll see how that goes. I feel more comfortable with crayons than paints. 🙂

What a nice compliment that I remind you of your friend’s doodling! ❤️ And thank you for sharing Debra’s site with me! 😃
I’d experiment with different art materials to see what you enjoy. I like color pencils – the Prismacolor pencils are my favorite because they have a soft, buttery lead but any will work. I also like Tombow markers – which are water soluble so you can add water to them and they will spread if you want to. Crayons are fun too! So many possibilities !! 🎨👍 Having FUN is key to me! 😊

Having fun is key to me too! I tried one page in my adult coloring book with watercolor and the shading isn’t right…my fault for not being better at that skill, so I’ve lost interest in them.
After reading Debra’s post I pulled out a coloring book page from the Country Scenes Adult Coloring Book and copied it and am coloring it in with my box of 64 crayons. Yes, I do still have a box of 64 crayons by Crayola. 🙂 I wish there was a deeper brown and more greens. Maybe a box of 75 crayons Crayola? Please! 🙂
I encouraged #1 Grandson to color along with me. He chose his Superhero Coloring book to color in. We had great fun sharing our color picks, and how our page was going until he finished and lost interest. I hope to get back to it later tonight.
I have watercolor color pencils, but didn’t want to use those. Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll take a look at the Prismacolor pencils. I’ve heard good things about them. Your recommendation solidifies that! xx

I purchased a big box of crayola crayons a couple of years ago! I love them! 🎨💕I think watercolor pencils would work too. Let me know if you buy a set and I will tell you the best sharpener I found that doesn’t break their soft lead! 😃 Also, Dick Blick has them on sale now and then so you can get them for almost half off!
One more thing, I find if I have my color pencils next to my chair when I’m watching TV, I’m more likely to use them. 😀 Hope this helps you!

What is that sharpener I’ll go to Dick Blick’s and add both to my cart and order them while it’s early in the month and I have mad money to spend! Any later and I won’t b/c I’d buy beauty products. My Ulta and Sephora carts are full of items waiting for me to push the “buy” button. 🙂

Thank you Patty! 😊 I started by purchasing some books on Zentangle. Once I got started using other people’s patterns, I started creating my own. I hope this may help you! ❤️
