If you read my post from yesterday, I shared that today I would show you a piece of art that was a mistake or maybe what I should call an “unsuccessful experiment!”
I can’t really remember my reasoning for creating this acrylic painting on pastel paper… but it didn’t turn out that great… I think we all have these unsuccessful art pieces! Am I correct?! 😉
Yesterday, I made it into a fish… An “uncommon” Carp:
I’m liking it much better now!
I encourage you to keep your “mistakes” and turn them into “possibilities” at a later date!
Cheers! 🙂
Hi Jill. I totally agree with you. Nothing is ever completely trash in art. And sometimes you just need to leave it alone for a while.

Thanks Doc Kandinsky! 😄 I also like to keep my artwork so I can see improvements in my work. Glad you like my fish! 🐠

I like the first as much as the second one. I think the first one looks like a bird on a nest.

Yes I agree – I never throw anything away. Usually I come back to what I thought were disasters and think they are more invigorating than my usual drawings! the fish is great!

I like the way you describe your disasters! 😃 Invigorating is a good word, full of energy. I will remember this – thank you for your comments.

I actually like the original, but the fish makes excellent use of the pattern and colors. (K)

Thank you Kerfe – I guess we all have certain ideas about our artwork. 😉 Sometimes what I think is fantastic, no one else comments and then the disasters get lots of likes! 😎 Go figure! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder is a good thing to remember – thank you for reminding me. ❤️

ha ha, I thought the first one was pretty cute! Using old art pieces for collaging is on the top of my want to try list! Love the colorful carp!

I LOVE the original! What didn’t you like? But the Carp is delightful too – and love your play on words. I keep a bin of mistakes myself and sometimes am surprised when I revisit. 🙂

Thanks Jodi! 😃 I don’t know, guess it is a little busy. I have several piles of artwork I keep – collage material, art/techniques I want to explore further and art that could be framed. It is always fun to revisit past artwork and see how I have improved too! 🎨👍

Hehe loved the carp. You do know that all art is one step closer to success, right? Don’t discredit that journey. 😊

Very cute! I agree with you about art mistakes…my philosophy is that when you make a mistake you do something to make it look like it was supposed to be there! Nobody will ever know 😀
