I’ve been drawing my own patterns lately for collage papers.
I got the idea from Kara Kramer’s online class, hosted by Carla Sonheim. You can check out her class at Improv collage
She got me thinking about words…
So I started cutting out JUST words that “spoke to me” from old magazines and junk mail:
It helped to think about words I like AND different lettering “styles.”
Then I created a page of words that I can copy and use in my own artwork:
What WORDS speak to you to write and doodle on a page?!
I have to say that YOU inspire me every day in your art, poetry, photography, blog posts and encouraging comments. Thank you!
Cheers! 🙂
I have a little plastic bin of words and phrases that I’ve cut out to use for junk mail poetry…as you say, besides what they “say” they are beautiful to look at too! (K)

Good Morning Jill, I’ll enjoy seeing where your patterns and word pattern show up in your future art making. I love the idea of just using the words. I’ll give it a try myself. It is fun how we all can help one another with motivation and creative thought. Keep those ideas coming, I love your art expression. Have a great day.

How fun – the words I migrate to are “Love” “Joy” “Happy” “Home” “Heart” – just off the top of my head 🙂 ❤

What a great idea Jill love the random way you have scattered the words on your page and what a good idea for using junk mail to cut out random lettering styles. I usually just bin it without even looking at it!!! So will be checking it out in future. Coming up to Christmas we get a lot more of it too…

Yes, me too Nana. 😊 will make copies of my original words so I can reuse them. The teacher, Kara Kramer also had a good idea of gluing a word like from a magazine to paper and then doodling around it before using it. 👍
