Forever Variations

My hubby was listening to the jazz pianists, Bob James and Keiko Matsui from their album, “Altair and Vega,” last evening while I was working on this doodle:

I thought the title of one of their pieces, “The Forever Variations, was fitting for my doodle which started simply:

And patterns grew in complexity, much like their music:

I had a Micron pen explode on me, so I’m working some “spots” into my design…

It is a work in progress that I’m enjoying while listening to the smooth jazz!

What music do you enjoy listening to while creating?  I’d love if you shared it with me… It might inspire me in my next doodle!

Cheers! 🙂

  6. I like Celtic type music. I listen to Loreena McKennitt, or Celtic Woman or similar music when I paint. But I like variety so I will also listen to other types of music, sometimes paying close attention to the lyrics. They sometimes inspire to move in a totally different direction with my art. I love how you worked the ink splotches into your zentangle.

    • Hi Louise, I so enjoy listening to Lorena McKennitt! 😊👍🎵
I agree with you, music lyrics help take my art in new directions – I always enjoy and appreciate your comments… thank you! 😍

  8. So expressive! I like to have silence of manmade sounds and prefer some chirping birds and my own swirling thoughts. But dang, those noisy lawnmowers – a necessary evil of summertime – sometimes drown out the birds and I must close the window 😆

    • Hi Carol, I can so relate! Most of the time, I don’t listen to music when I’m creating art unless my hubby is home. 😊🎵
The neighbors behind us always seem to be mowing their lawn (which makes their dog bark) when we are sitting outside eating! 😳
