Creating A Recipe Of Fun…

I have been thinking about how I want to participate in Charlie’s World Watercolor Month this July at Doodlewash.com

I wanted to make it fun… and discovered an idea from Danielle Donaldson’s recent book:

She suggested experimenting with watercolor by making color recipe cards.  I liked this idea and decided to make it my own.

I decided to make a 6 x 9 inch “recipe card” using a variety of watercolor papers, experiment in watercolor and collage on each card and use the alphabet to help guide me to create my recipe of fun!

I got started right away with “A” recipe…

I decided I wasn’t going to overthink my process…

So “B” fore I did, I moved on to my next letter:

I added alphabet “tabs” to the top of my first cards so I could create more than one recipe in that letter.

Part of the fun is adding notes to the back of the card, such as what inspired me:

I hope you create your own watercolor recipe of fun and participate in World Watercolor Month with me!

Cheers! 🙂

P.S. Charlie O’Shields will be giving away many freebies in July so be sure to stop by his blog for a chance to win!  #worldwatercolormonth

  2. I love these Jill, what a good idea. I too was thinking about Charlie and July’s challenge. I will be joining in too. I’m going to keep it simple and make Artist Trading Cards for the month.

  3. Very clever and cute Jill! I am going to join the July challenge, but probably wont do the ultimate challenge and just do occasional watercolors…

  4. What a great idea. I’m really struggling to do something every day. Maybe if I keep it small it won’t seem so onerous.
