Smoldering sun glows, we cannot breathe…
Thick gray smoke, blankets the sky.
No rain forecasted, we cannot see…
Wild fires blaze, trees and homes burn.
Devastation seen, we cannot touch…
Sparks ignite, wildfire season.
The air quality has been at a hazardous level where I live in the Pacific Northwest. I took these photos yesterday at the lake in Northern Idaho.
We seem to be surrounded by the thick smoke everywhere… lake and home. Looks like I will be spending much of my time indoors this week. 😉
I’m so thankful for the firefighters who continue to fight for your forests and homes… yet we badly need rain.
Hope you stay safe…
Cheers! 🙂
I’m sorry you are experiencing the smoke from the awful forest fires. Last year we visited Glacier NP in Montana during one of the blazes and could barely see any scenery, and the smoky air was difficult to breathe. Stay indoors for sure and make some beautiful creations, Jill. I’ll be doing a little rain dance for you!

Hi Carol, thank you for doing a rain dance! ☔️ The wind has cleared out some of the smoke today but still hazardous to breathe. 😯 Yes, a good time to do some art making! ❤️

Thank you, Sharon – I do believe the smoke is bad where you live too? 😯

We haven’t nearly what you have had in my area.

I’m glad to hear that! 😊 The weather is supposed to cool down this weekend and hopefully this will help the smoke clear out.

Oh Jill, how awful and scary…I experienced the terror of fires when I lived in Southern Cal, but never this bad. Please be careful and take care. Your abstract interpretation is one of your best…

Hi Jenna, it is scary to have so many fires burning around us but thankfully none too close to our home. The smell of the smoke is so strong though. Good time to stay indoors and create some art! 🎨😊👍
The abstraction was done quickly, sometimes not overthinking things works out best! Lol! ☺️

It’s bad in BC as well. The pollution from the smoke is worse than any pollution you can find Asia. My sister lives in Calgary, Alta. and there are days where they have to wear masks or stay indoors and they’re hundreds of miles away from the wildfires.

Hi Carol, I think a lot of the smoke is coming our way from BC. So many wildfires everywhere it seems right now. 😦
I hope we all get some rain soon! ☔️

It was hard to hit the like button on this post Jill. I know how you’re feeling. They’re making headway here in CA with the wildfires thankfully.
Take care and be safe!

Hi Deborah, I know that CA has been hit extremely hard with wildfires. Glad to hear the firefighters are making headway. 👍 Is the smoke bad near you?

Wow, this looks frightening! Here in Germany a lot of the crop is lost due to no rain and too much heat. And it will not get better, because nothing is done to at least slow down the climate change. It´s so sad. Be careful, wishing you rain! 🌧

Hi Ann, yes, there seems to be devastation everywhere from lack of rain! It is so sad to see. Today the wind is blowing which has helped clear out some smoke. I just wish we could get some rain! ☔️

Here it is cooling down a little, and there was some rain. But not enough to help the farmers, it´s to late anyway. A great year for wine though… 😉 But you’re completely right, it´s sad to see!

Hi Susan, I thought it was smoky where you live too… takes the fun out of going to the lake when you can’t see the mountains…😦

We are still on the boat but forced to stay indoors with an air purifier going 24/7. My husband has asthma. 🤤 We are thankful there are no fires here and feel for the fire fighters giving their all.

Your painting really captures the oppressive feeling. I wish we could send you some of our rain, it’s been non-stop for weeks…the fires are just awful. All over the world. (K)

Thank you, Kerfe! 🌧 I wish you could too… 💕
I wrote the poem too as I so like your poems. Not sure it would be considered a poem however. Need to learn more about them. 😃
