July Square-A-Day Project

Perhaps you remember my post regarding my inspiration for my first ten days of my July Square-A-Day Project? If not you can find it here: 10 Watercolor Squares

I created in watercolor for July but also some gouache for each day on a 1.75 x 1.75 inch square:

Nature was my inspiration for most of my squares. Yet, I did include a couple of abstracts and a little whimsy!

Painting outside at the lake was something I truly enjoyed! I encourage you to paint outdoors.

Cheers! πŸ™‚

Great job Jill! If I had to pick just one to like the best, I think I’ve picked the shamrocks. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks Julie! ☘️ I did the background in watercolor and then the shamrocks in gouache. I haven’t painted much in gouache, have you? 😊

I only have my white gouache that I use for highlights. I might invest in a few colors sometime to see if I like them.

      • They do make good highlights! I started with an inexpensive set but wasn’t very happy with them. I like your idea of investing in a few colors at a time. πŸŽ¨πŸ’•

  7. Outstanding, Jill!! I love your squares so much! πŸ’—πŸ’šπŸ˜€ It’s hard to choose a favorite but eye popping hopper is really awesome.
I need to try painting with gouache as well. It’s on my list to try soon. πŸ˜€πŸŒΈ

    • Thanks Patty Anne! ❀️ I’m sorry I am behind in commenting…
I am taking an online class in gouache but have gotten behind. Vacations have a way of doing that I guess. I look forward to seeing what you create in gouache! πŸŽ¨πŸ‘

  8. It is so much fun to see them all together! I have done a series of small squares and it’s not easy working that small! My favorite is the spider, I loved the way you did the shadows, and I love the abstracts too, they are all bright and fun!
