The maple tree in our yard is turning many marvelous colors!
I took these photos on Wednesday when we had our first SNOW of the season…
It was a shock to many trees in our area that still have their leaves…
Many people woke-up to fallen branches and trees in their yards as the branches could not hold the weight of this unexpected snow. Always so sad to lose a lovely tree!
I experimented with my Gelli-plate a little more. This time I printed on a couple of garden magazine pages.
I will use the negative and positive shapes of this oak leaf in my art journal:
May you have a marvelous weekend!
Cheers! π
I like the negative oak leaf.

Hi Laura Kate, I like the negative shape too. Do you ever use negative shapes in your quilt designs? π

I used it for the first time in my Autumnal Equinox quilt block. It was both negative and positive applique of a tree.

Hi Kerfe, it is unusual to have snow this soon even for us. It is hard on the apple crops in addition to our regular trees. Not to mention that I am not ready for the cold weather! π³π I am enjoying the leaves while we have them.

How creative those are! Your tree is gorgeous. The tree that was in the front yard when we bought this house died, so we had to replace it per our HOA codes and we put in a Hot Wing Maple which is turning red! It’s the first time I’ve had a Maple tree. I love the leaves. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that it thrives, and I have the pleasure of watching it grow and change through the seasons for years to come.

Hi Deborah, maple trees are usually pretty hardy. I think they are one of my favorite trees in the fall as their colors can give a spectacular show! ππ The one in my yard is a Sunset Maple which is an accurate name for this tree! β€οΈ
