Pie Birds

‘Tis the season for…

PIE!!

These three Pie Birds are a slice of happiness, don’t you agree?!

What is YOUR favorite kind of pie?

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

Short And Stout

Today, I have two squabby (short and stout) weird birds…

Who seem to be having a squabble (petty quarrel) under the rhubarb.

My rhubarb plant is going to seed…  But I think it is kind of beautiful!

Did you know that rhubarb is “slang” for quarrel or squabble?

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

P.S. As I am willing to risk more and put my art out into the world, I am also more at risk for other people to criticize my art.  How do you handle criticism in your art making or life?  I hope you share your wisdom with me!  Thanks!

Orange Crush

I have been drinking green smoothies each day for about a week to try to increase my energy.

I was at the grocery store on Monday, buying ingredients for my smoothies when I saw this weird bird!

EABC8C8E-2AB6-464E-BBCB-E063CAD1B5D2

I had an orange crush on him so I had to buy him!  My cat checked him out when I got home…

I placed him in my yard so I could see him outside my kitchen window:

I got to thinking how I could dress him up a bit, perhaps he needs a bit more color?

Or maybe he is more of a red dazzler?

I hope he gives you a smile today like he does me!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

P.S.  If you’d like to learn more about green smoothies, I am really enjoying this book:

Watermelon Birds?!

Nothing beats the heat like a slice of watermelon…

These weird birds made their “appearance” for the letter, “W”:

They are wacky Watermelon birds!

I used watermelon images from my Bon Appétit magazine and painted their beaks with watercolor. A few details were added with a pencil, black micron pen and white gel pen.

Carla Sonheim is offering FREE art videos for Kid’s Art Camp this week.  Each day is a short video.  I always enjoy participating and seeing what others create.  Any age can sign up.  I encourage you to check it out at CarlaSonheim.com

These “wild” birds were from lesson one:

A Poke In The Eye

Somehow I irritated my right eye…

I don’t know if I got something in it or if I scratched my eyeball.  I’m going to an eye doctor this morning to find out.

It just reminds me how wonderful it is to SEE colors and EVERYTHING!  I am so blessed.

I’m very excited about this new online class I just started, hosted by Carla Sonheim – go to CarlaSonheim.com to learn more about the online art classes she offers.

The name of this class is The College Techniques of Anne Marie Grgich.

Check out Anne Marie’s art on Pinterest  if you’d like to see her AMAZING detailed collages!

I found a few more books at a different thrift store yesterday to add to my collection and I got the Senior Discount!  Yes, there is a plus to being 55 years old and older! Lol! 🤣

EE69E374-3553-4F09-AAA5-E10AFE6C61DB

I figure what images I don’t use in collage, I could use as references to paint! ☺️

Sorry to report, I did not see any Nancy Drew mystery books at this store but I did find a great book on container gardening for only $1.00 – YAY!

Anne Marie Grgich’s collages are very detailed with MANY layers of images.  One of the things that inspired me to take this class was to learn how to create more transparent layers in my own collages.  Plus, what a bonus to watch videos of another artist’s process!  I’m learning so much and the class has just started!

So back to the process of cutting and sorting images by color for this class…

It is much more fun than a poke in the eye!

Cheers! 🙂

Goodbye Refrigerator…

Our first fridge has quit,

I feel rather sad…

You kept our food cold,

A long time, I’m so glad!

59517C2E-D067-4C24-A8A8-7FE3FAF9D338

In our first home,

You were shiny, brand new…

When we moved, you became

The garage fridge, thank you!

It seems only fair,

Your photo I share now…

A Gibson – golden edition,

For over 30 years, wow!

D557A418-83CB-4EA7-A8A7-0C9D3AD55B79

Extra food and drinks

I relied on your place…

Filling your shelves,

When I ran out of space!

So what will I do?

Without you, oh, my…

I know it will cost us,

Sorry to say, good-bye!

I hope this silly poem gives you a smile today!

Cheers! 🙂

Have Your Cake And…

My MIL turned 85 years old yesterday! 😃  WOWZA!

So I thought I would repost this Diva bird since I’m taking a little break from blogging this week…

And be sure to eat a slice of cake! 🍰

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Letter “F” Is For…

Fabulous food, fun and flamingos!

find Jenna’s blog at The Painted Apron so FUNtastic! 🙂

I completed this still life recently:

DF8A7833-8038-4ED0-A6BA-A098D6198FD0

And it reminded me of the colors in Jenna’s Fearless Friday, Flaming Flamingo… it does have a fiesta feel don’t you think?

I want to try creating a still life painting with Jenna’s Tablescape, Spring at the Farm.  Perhaps a French hen would be a funky addition!  😉

I also enjoy Jenna’s recipes like this one, A Rainbow Salad… It looks fresh, flavorful and color-filled!

I hope you will join me in following Jenna’s blog for more fabulous fun!

Cheers! 🙂

Sven and Ole

When I was in college, I heard many Norwegian jokes… Mostly about Sven and Ole… two Norwegian farmers.  Yah, sure, you betcha…

I haven’t heard these jokes in years so I had to watch a couple on YouTube, still funny after all these years for hubby and me. 😉

Funny how one joke leads to…

The best utility or exacto knife I have found; the Olfa!

84F378BC-82FC-4127-84B9-12D8F20FA6C1

I love that the blade snaps off so it is so easy to replace a sharper blade!  And this size fits well in my hand –  perfect for my paper weaving class.

I completed another paper weaving recently, think PIE and coffee…

And perhaps a Norwegian joke or two?

Happy Monday; yah, sure, you betcha!

Cheers! 🙂
