Birds!!! Of course! 😉
This Brown-Headed Bridge bird was caught with its
hand beak in the bark butter again!
Kathy at Backyard Bird Nerd is a big believer of feeding bark butter to the bazillion birds that flock to her yard!
I hope you check out Kathy’s blog if you too want a treat of beautifully photographed birds (and butterflies in the summer too!)
Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Spring!! Can you hear the earth sing?!
I was excited to see these tender green sprouts of chives making an appearance yesterday…
And my lilies can hardly wait for more sunshine so they can stretch out tender stems from a long, cold winter…
Rhubarb is seriously stunning in color and texture, wouldn’t you agree? I can almost taste the Strawberry-Rhubarb Crisp! Yum!
And what about this shiny green moss? It seems to have found a place to grow between these walkway stones!
I can see a bird head, how about you? 😉
Be sure to check out Ali’s blog, The Mindful Gardner
I can almost smell each flower’s scent in Ali’s photos and descriptions! Her passion for gardening is like a sprouting seed after a long cold winter…
If you were to draw, paint or photograph ten items that YOU treasure around your home, what would they be?
For the second assignment for Lynn Whipple’s online class, The Essence of Still Life, we were to draw ten items on our table:
I had fun selecting different items – some treasures and some I just like to draw, like the pear… to complete this still life on a 10 x 10 inch wood panel.
Please check out Arlene’s blog. She is also taking Lynn’s class. Arlene’s art style is fabulous! I like what she chose to draw for her still life.
I’d love to hear about what items you treasure…

Comfy warm blanket…
Black cat sleeping on the couch,
Move over kitty!
I thought my watercolor pattern from my last post looked like a fabric quilt so I painted an image of my black cat, Jack with Sumi ink on a separate piece of paper. I cut out his shape, added some shading and placed him on the pattern.
Seems like a good day for a cat nap, how about you?

I came across my mom’s college scrapbook the other day…
These flower corsages were taped to the first page.
The tape had yellowed with time but the flowers were amazingly still intact.
I wondered what special memories these dances held for my mom that inspired her to keep the corsages. So I wrote this poem:
Faded and fragile,
Memories like flowers,
Pressed into a book.
Slip away, quietly
Like an unsung melody.
I found such sentimental beauty and hope in these dried flowers. Sometimes it is the small things we hold dear and maybe press into a book to be discovered by someone else, some day if we make the time to notice.
Have you ever pressed a flower into a book? I hope you share the memory with me!

Zen doodle meets Weird Bird Wednesday!
The Calendula Bird AKA the Marigold bird loves to flap its wings and spread the seeds of flowers in the Fall so that we have a beautiful Spring!
Did you know that deer don’t like to eat this flower? I like to plant it at the lake in the summer where deer like to nibble on all leaves, flowers and fruit – like this skinny one:

Some days I wonder where life is leading me…
I wish it was as easy as “following the yellow brick road!”
Yet, when I feel cloudy on the inside…
I know that God’s Son-shine will always give me hope for a new day!
Cheers Friends! 🙂

We have been dealing with smoke from wild fires in our area for several weeks. Not only do we have poor vision but the air quality has been awful! This photo was taken last weekend at the lake:
So we were thrilled to have a few drops of rain and wind to clear the skies this last weekend!
Yesterday, we were able to enjoy a short boat ride and breathe in fresh air in clear skies. It was wonderful to see blue sky and mountains again. Hoorah! 😃
We noticed the air and water temperatures were cooler and leaves starting to change to autumn’s glorious show:
It was so nice to enjoy the beauty around us again! We hope that the firefighters are able to get control of fires around us so that the smoke stays away. We still need rain badly.
Even the wild animals are hurting from the dry weather. I found this wild bunny eating an apple from a neighbor’s tree. The deer love the apples but I have never seen a bunny eat one!
Such bizarre weather this year, everywhere it seems…
Stay safe friends!

The first home my hubby and I rented was very small… so small that my sis said we must be in love! And we were! Looking back now, we were so young:
Below is an “artistic” floor plan of our 441 square foot home in Cheney, WA:
The little pink house sat between 2 railroad tracks which took a little getting used to! We had a king-sized waterbed that felt like one of those coin-operated massage beds when the trains passed. Lol! The bed took up most of the room too. I had to lie on the bed in order to open the dresser.
My hubby sold stereos at the time and we had a set of Magnepan speakers in the living room – 2 ft wide, 6 ft high and 1 inch thick. Perfect sound for a tiny home! 😉
We had our first garden in the backyard. The cows next door got loose one time and helped to fertilize the garden. We had zucchini so large we used them as door stops.
Our first cat, we named Abbynormal after the Young Frankenstein movie. I remember the cat was a bit abnormal and loved the swamps near our house.
When the landlord doubled the rent a year later, we moved to Spokane, WA and paid much higher rent but we a bigger house! 🙂
Do you remember your first home? I’d love to hear your memories!

My hubby took this photo of a turkey that was hanging around at the church next to his office yesterday.
It isn’t every day you see a turkey in a church parking lot…
Apparently, the turkey wasn’t aware that they aren’t allowed at church because they use FOWL language. Haha!
I see a future weird bird, how about you? 😉
Wishing you a happy weekend!
