A Treehouse

I’ve been moving scraps of collage papers around on a piece of paper which reminds me of looking for animals in fluffy clouds…

It is a simple exercise for generating new ideas and quite satisfying! 😉

Do you see a treehouse?

How about a picnic in the park?

And of course, this weird bird showed up!  He is only a day late… so I anchored him down with tape.  I didn’t want him flying off!

If you are ever in a creative rut I suggest you give this idea a try!

I’d love to hear what YOU see in these paper scraps!  Please share!

Cheers! 🙂

P.S. As a child, I created a lot of “forts” which were all on ground level…sigh.

A Perfect Day

I interrupt this weekly weird bird post to share a perfect day with you!

We had to make a quick trip to the lake yesterday to have our RV fixed by “Bob,” the mobile RV doctor! 😉

It was a beautiful day with temperatures in the 80’s so I thought you might want to tag along with me for some lake time in Northern Idaho…

Priest Lake does look rather inviting with its pristine water but it is still a chilly 60 degrees.

I’d rather sit in a beach chair and enjoy the view, how about you?

The wild roses are in bloom and so Pretty In Pink

I even discovered a bumble bee enjoying them!

The Cottonwood trees were shedding their cottony seeds and it looked a little like snow falling from this brilliant blue sky.

My friend, Marsha showed me her amazing needlepoint she is creating of BIRDS! I can’t wait until she completes all the unique stitches and adds their beaded hats!

I hope you enjoyed this perfect day at the lake with me!

As the sign in our kitchen at home says… “A day at the lake is worth a month in town!”

Cheers! 🙂

P.S. I did see a “gang” of turkeys cross the road on the car ride home… perhaps they will show up in next week’s weird bird Wednesday!

What’s On Your Plate?

I cleaned off my collage table recently and discovered new weird bird possibilities on this small plate of scraps:

Today’s bird is everything but the kitchen sink… I mean, basin!

I wonder, what’s on your plate of creativity today?!  Please share!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

If The Shoe Fits…

Today’s weird bird is a “shoo-in” to tickle your funny bone! Hahaha!

After all, if the shoe fits…

You will want to wear a smile!

Which “shoe-bill” fits you?

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

Orange Crush

I have been drinking green smoothies each day for about a week to try to increase my energy.

I was at the grocery store on Monday, buying ingredients for my smoothies when I saw this weird bird!

EABC8C8E-2AB6-464E-BBCB-E063CAD1B5D2

I had an orange crush on him so I had to buy him!  My cat checked him out when I got home…

I placed him in my yard so I could see him outside my kitchen window:

I got to thinking how I could dress him up a bit, perhaps he needs a bit more color?

4CB1C8B3-A548-49F1-83CD-543EE940FC26

Or maybe he is more of a red dazzler?

9D002336-C271-46F5-A06E-390F363044BB

I hope he gives you a smile today like he does me!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

P.S.  If you’d like to learn more about green smoothies, I am really enjoying this book:

A Ladder Bird

I have a Limerick for today’s weird bird.

0C891B81-D987-46EF-9B13-D5DDE72121DB

There once was a Ladder bird named Delores,

Whose neck was long like a Brachiosaurus,

She rose to the top,

Chirping nonstop,

When voted most successful in the chorus!

May you sing nonstop today like Delores!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Chirp, Chirp! 🙂

An Artful Exchange

I just love Sharon Mann’s sunny art, don’t you?

E384A584-328B-4FD0-AB7C-897C98DA164D

I was delighted to receive her postcard art recently in an artful exchange through the mail!

4FE1ACE7-0A2E-48F6-AF5E-C7B48A6703C5

We each created six postcards, 4×6 inch size in any art medium.  (I forgot to take a photo of mine so you will have to look at Sharon’s blog). 😉

Perhaps you remember our other artful exchange?  If not you can find it here:  The Speedball Bird

I enjoy making art in this “postcard” size so I’m sure you will see more of it!

Thank you Sharon for brightening my day with your cheerful art!

Cheers! 🙂

An Inside View

Thank you all for your kind words of support for my hip surgery.  I am doing amazingly well.  I still get tired but am able to walk without any support and have very little pain.  I get my stitches out this Friday and hope that I will be given the green light for driving!

I have a little something different for today’s weird bird…

Birdhouses!

Our snow is finally melting and it looks like Spring is on its way!  This makes me think about birdhouses.  Plus, I have been making mini house collages in Carla Sonheim’s 2019 Year of the Collage class.

I created these eccentric birdhouses in my sketchbook recently.  I limited myself to using a circle and 2 other collage scraps for each one.  I randomly glued them into a square and then went back and added details with a pencil.

B0075694-B0B1-4BD3-8F5E-C86EEB5102F1

One of them looked like it had an inside view.

This inspired me to create this collage from a variety of magazines:

An Inside View of a Birdhouse

What kind of weird bird do you think lives here?  I know it is a bird with extremely good taste as the framed chicken is from a Klimt calendar!

Happy weird bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

Plain Vs. Peanut

Plain vs. peanut?

M&M chocolate candies of course!

And two weird birds:

Plain Vs. Peanut

I wonder which one is Mars and which one is Murrie?

According to Mentalfloss.com M&M stands for Forrest Mars, son of the Mars candy founder, who invented, patented and began manufacturing the candy coated plain variety in a factory in New Jersey in 1941.

Mars talked to Bruce Murrie, son of Hershey’s company president about going into business together.  Their sweet deal melted like chocolate in a hot car in 1949 when Mars bought out Murrie’s share for 1 million.

Q:  What were the 5 original colors?

A:  Red, orange, yellow, green and violet

The signature “M” wasn’t stamped on the candies until 1950, in black rather than white.

Peanut M&M’s were introduced in 1954 in a tan color… It wasn’t until 1960 that they came out in colors like the plain variety.

Mars was allergic to peanuts so he never got to enjoy a handful of his creation…

I recently purchased a bag of the peanut M&M’s that inspired me for today’s weird birds!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

PS. May your day be extra sweet!
