A Lazy Daisy Day

Yesterday, I had a lazy daisy kind of day…

I was at the lake and the weather was very nice!

What a difference a week makes!  The photo below on the left was taken last weekend and the photo on the right shows how the beach chairs would NOW be under water!

The sunshine feels wonderful but we don’t need the snow in the mountains to melt too quickly!  Flood warnings are now in place…

Oh, the balance of nature… glad I’m not in charge! 😉

Hope you had a lazy daisy day too!  What did you do?

Cheers! 🙂

A Thousand Reasons To Smile

Life can give me unexpected surprises… How about YOU?

When I discovered this quote yesterday on the Internet, it encouraged me:

Last Saturday, I discovered these flowers from  A Walk In The Park

They were my inspiration for today’s artwork in my journal…

I hope my art and this quote will encourage you to smile too in difficult times.

Sunny weather last weekend changed to 30’s and SNOW this weekend!  😮

I’m thankful we were able to get our yard work done yesterday before the snow accumulates…

Wishing you one thousand reasons to smile every day!

Cheers! 🙂

A Walk In The Park

It was an amazing fall day yesterday in the Pacific Northwest!  Hubby and I took advantage of this blue-sky day by taking a walk at Manito Park.

It seems that everywhere we looked, nature was showing her glorious autumn colors:

It was wonderful to see so many people out enjoying the day… we saw people taking family photos, several dog walkers and many people just breathing in the beauty like us.

It was easy to put the busy work week behind us when we were dazzled by these colors as they reflected on this pond:

And with such a spectacular photo like this one:

Life’s troubles seemed to disappear.

Wishing you a moment to reflect on the beauty around you today…

Cheers! 🙂

Nature’s Canvas

Apple tree budding,

One brilliant blue canvas sky

Nature brings new hope.

May you find peace in your heart today!

Happy Easter! 🙂

Plant Your Own Gardens

It has been awhile since I’ve done a collage in my sketchbook so I decided to create these flowers in the garden of my imagination using an old fall bulb catalog:

Wishing you a sunny day enjoying the gardens you plant in your imagination!

Cheers!  🙂

Carousel Of Lights

Carousel of lights,

Forgetting winter’s cold bite,

Brings our eyes delight!

My hubby and I were at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho yesterday.  I took these photos outside at the marina.  The resort puts on a Christmas light show every year.

img_9224

I enjoyed looking at the mountains too and how peaceful the lake is in winter.  We did see one boat on the lake in 12 degrees!  Brrr!  Too cold for us!

Wishing you a day to relax and enjoy the beauty around you… wherever you live!

Peace Friends!  🙂

Sing Joy!

I drew this Angel with black ink and a dip pen on hot press watercolor paper:

Added a light watercolor wash and a bird on her wing:

Finished with color pencils:

She says:  Sing Joy… Give Love…Be Kind

Wishing you a Sunny Sunday, Friends!  🙂

Christmas Ornaments

I have been thinking about my handmade Christmas card for this year when this poem came to me:

And here are some of my favorite ornaments hanging on our Christmas tree…

A handmade heart my grandma made many years ago:

An ornament saved from my childhood that reminds me of the family tree:

And one an artist friend painted:

Each one holds a special place in my heart just for me!

Wishing you a Sunny Sunday!  Cheers!!  🙂

P.S.  Do you have a special ornament that you cherish?  I would love to hear about it!

Autumn’s Memory Fades

I was inspired by Jodi at The Creative Life In Between to create this haiku for today.

Bare branches reaching,

Outstretched arms towards the sun,

Autumn’s memory fades…

img_8749

Days become shorter,

Frosty fingers leave their mark,

Freezing seed heads droop.

img_8656

Colors change from gold,

Paperlike flowers pressed,

Winter’s icy breath.

Wishing you a Sunny Sunday, friends!

Cheers!  🙂

Stardust

My husband and I attended a Jazz concert last evening with The Whitworth Jazz Ensemble and special guest, Branford Marsalis.

We got super seats – only 3 rows back from the stage:

The venue was the Fox Theater in downtown Spokane, Washington.  It was originally a 1931 Art Deco movie theater designed by architect Robert C Reamer, who was notable for his design of the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone Park, Wyoming.

After a 31 million dollar renovation in 2007, the restored building retains some of its original architectural details and lighting fixtures:

Branford played a solo of “Stardust” on the saxophone that was extraordinary!  I closed my eyes and enjoyed listening to him play his instrument with such precision.

After three standing ovations, the crowd dispersed but I don’t think anyone was ready for the concert to be over.

Here is the beautiful lighting in the ceiling – I just love the patterns!

Wishing you all a Sunny Sunday… listening to music that makes you happy!

Cheers!  🙂
