Around The Bend

I have made progress to my doodle I started last week.  Here is where I left off:

I was having fun doodling all the twists and turns so I had to add a few more to my design:

It’s almost done!  Next I will add color…

Sometimes life is like this doodle, I can’t wait to see what is just around the bend!  I’m looking forward to taking a couple of new online art classes that I will share with you next week.

What are you looking forward to?  I’d love to hear from you!

Wishing you a Sunny Sunday, friends!!  🙂

Perhaps you will find a little time to enjoy nature’s beauty around the bend or backyard like these photos I recently took:

Raining Buttons

It has been raining most of the weekend here in the Pacific Northwest.  I find doodling in the evening keeps my hands busy and I enjoy creating patterns and playing with color.

I created these two pages of circle patterns recently in my new art journal and they remind me of buttons:

I found this quote on the internet:

“I cannot count my day complete, ‘Til needle, thread and fabric meet.” – Author Unknown  I used to find joy in cross-stitch, then beading and now mixed media art…

For me today, “I cannot count my day complete, ‘Til pen or brush and sketchbook meet!”

Wishing you a Sunny Sunday, Friends…

“In the crazy quilt of life, I’m glad you are in my block of friends!”  – Author Unknown

Cheers!  🙂

Terrific Trees

I was experimenting yesterday with different art mediums to create these trees:

I masked off the background with masking tape and then used salt over Dr. Ph Martin’s India ink.  I also used Pan Pastels on them.

Not all my experiments turned out.  Like the above one on the left where I used glass bead gel and India ink.  It didn’t want to dry.  But I still kind of like it.

The one next to it, I used matte medium, masked it off and used watercolor then salt.  And finished it with the pan pastels after I rubbed off the salt.  I like its softer feel.

Speaking of trees, I am amazed how much my Red Maple tree has changed color since I posted a photo of it here, last Sunday:

Feeling Fallish

October.  I love this time of year as the leaves seem to change colors on a daily basis.

Mother Nature seems to have her own magical paintbrush!  I look out my kitchen window and see golden yellows, burnt oranges, olive greens and cheery reds blended with touches of purple every now and then!  🙂

Like these photos and a haiku –

And perhaps a little time to marvel at Mother Nature’s artwork…

Cheers!

Air Cool And Crisp

We closed up our lake place yesterday.  My feelings are bittersweet.  I will miss the mountains, the lake, our friends and our weekend “get aways!”  Yet I’m looking forward to being home, snuggling with my cat while reading a good book and creating more art!  🙂

Seed Pods And Sunsets

I finished my mixed media art piece that I started last week.  If you recall, I was influenced by a photo I took of a Lupine flower’s seed pods. The last progress photo that I showed you is on the left or here, next to the completed piece on the right:

I like how the added collage papers (printed on my Gelli-Plate) give it more depth.  I added a few more patterns with a white gel pen too.  I plan on framing this one!  🙂

We’ve been having some awesome sunsets which I appreciate even more because we have several wildfires burning in our area.  When we have clear skies, it is a definite reason to celebrate:

May these beautiful sunsets inspire you in your art like a simple seed pod did for me.

Cheers!  🙂

Feathers Appear

I like this saying, “Feathers appear when angels are near.”

I enjoy making these “wild” feathers of my imagination!image

I start by gluing some of my Gelli-printed deli papers to black paper.  I then fill in my feather form with Prismacolor pencils.  I love the creaminess of the pencils on the black paper.

Wishing you a Sunny Sunday friends!  😃

Hidden Images

I like finding images in clouds but sometimes I see them in trees too.  Do you see the face in this tree?

image

Sometimes I see animals… Like a camel’s face in this tree growth:

image

You have to use your imagination a bit…

I see a bunny in this rock:

And a heart shape in this one:

What images do you see?  I’d love to hear from you!

Wishing you a happy day doing whatever brings you the most JOY!  And maybe a little time to see images in the clouds, trees or rocks near you!

May you have a Sunny Sunday, friends!!  🙂

A Flower Sketch

I have these flowers growing in my yard that I don’t know the name of…  Do you?

I love how they meander along my stone walkway.  So I decided to try sketching them.

I picked three stems in different stages of growth:

I used a black Micron pen with watercolor pencils, blending the colors with my water brush in my art journal.  I added a little turquoise around the edges with a color pencil:

I found this flower study and sketching very meditative.  I thought the quote summed it up nicely.

May your Sunny Sunday bring you JOY in life’s simple pleasures!

Happy Drawing!  🙂

Make A Wish

Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better. – Albert Einstein

I thought you might enjoy these photos I took at the lake last weekend.  Nature has a way of dazzling me with its simple beauty.

The wild Columbine was in bloom:

I didn’t notice the bee until later…

I even found this dandelion beautiful:

So I created this page in my turquoise journal that I showed you yesterday:

May you pause today and find beauty in nature’s simple pleasures!

Wishing you a sunny Sunday, friends!  🙂
