A Feature Creature?

I posted this doodle on Instagram last week…

I was playing with the features of a face as a doodle… How many eyes and noses do you see?

And eyebrows, ears and lips?

I see a couple of weird birds…Lol!

How about you?

What do YOU see?

Happy Friday!  Cheers! 🙂

Two Lips

If you were to describe Spring with two lips … I mean colors, what two colors would you choose?

I’d choose Prismacolor Pencils; Spring Green and Rose pink…

How about you?

What art medium and name describe the colors best for you?

Happy Spring!  (Wishful thinking…)

Cheers! 🙂 🌷

Ideas For A Zen Doodle

Perhaps you remember this doodle I recently started, if not you can find it here:  Creative Doodling…

I recently finished it!  🙂

It always feels good to finish one because then I get to start a new one!

I get inspiration from a variety of patterns to create my designs.  I wondered if YOU had an idea for me for my next zen doodle?  I hope you share it with me!

Cheers! 🙂

Bird-Dog Tired…

I was feeling dog-tired yesterday after work so I decided to mix things up for today’s Weird Bird Wednesday.

When I posted this doodle on Instagram recently, my sweet and talented friend, Carol at Carolscreativepapers.wordpress.com  told me she saw a bird and dog in it:

What do you see?  I hope you share it with me!

I find creating these zen doodles very meditative.  I always enjoy it when I get one completed because it means I can start something new!

Wishing you a happy day!

Cheers! 🙂

A Paint Pen Fish Doodle

I started a new doodle with the paint pens by scribbling some colors on the art journal I showed you yesterday.

I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to do but it was super fun to just play:

I used the Posca paint pens in colors of  light gray, yellow and light green.  It is interesting how the colors change depending on the time of day!

I just started doodling with a black Micron pen and these fish appeared:

So I went with the flow of it…  If I made a mistake with the black ink, I could easily cover it up with a paint pen!  🙂

I discovered that the black ink takes a little longer to dry over the acrylic painted surface so it can easily smear if you aren’t careful.

This is like a puzzle for me to solve as I search for fish and create patterns:

I added a few more lines with the paint pen to create another fish.  Can you find it hidden in the picture above the other two fish?

I will post my completed fish doodle next week.

Cheers! 🙂

A Letter Day

Yesterday, I finished doodling my letters in my World Watercolor Month sketchbook that I posted recently:

IMG_2290

This inspired me to use the letters, “WBW” for today’s Weird Bird Wednesday:

IMG_2295

I knew if I moved my paper around, I could find a weird bird in the letters… Can you find one?

This one flew off the page at me – so I added a few more details with watercolors:

Next, I decided to doodle my letters with an ink pen to finish it:

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!!

Cheers! 🙂

Just Leaf It

We are having a really late Spring this year.  So I have been doodling leaves in my sketchbook, dreaming of warmer weather:

IMG_0580

Perhaps you remember me starting this as a watercolor on a previous post?  If not, you can find it here.

It was a fun “branching out” and trying things in a different order.  However, I like creating the doodle first and then adding color, what do you think?

Cheers!  🙂

A Doodle Day

I was thankful that I didn’t have to cook the Thanksgiving dinner yesterday.  We joined my hubby’s family with a household of LOTS of people!  I’m not used to being around this many people so I found it calming to create this doodle in my art journal:

It was fun to add pattern to the negative space.  Tomorrow I hope to add color to the positive shapes.

Wishing you a fabulous Friday!!  Cheers!  🙂

A DisaPEARing Act

Yesterday’s post is a hard act to follow but I’m going to give it my best shot!

The shape apPEARed first… so I added patterns with a black Micron pen:

Next, I added color sparingly with watercolor:

And finished it with pencil shading to add the PEARfect dimension:

PERhaps you remember my 3 Pear Doodle from last year?  You can see it here.

Thank goodness Friday is here or should I say, has apPEARed!  Lol!

Cheers!!!  🙂

Fiddle Faddle

I’ve been trying to put the finishing colors on my doodle that I started awhile ago in my art journal.

It reminds me of the popcorn you can buy in the store called, Fiddle Faddle.  The popcorn and peanuts are covered with gooey caramel.  Yum!   Like the popcorn, I have a difficult time leaving my doodle alone.  I keep “fiddling” with it!

Here are some of the supplies I used on this doodle:

I started with watercolor but then tried gouache, Tombow markers, Inktense pencils, watercolor pencils and Prismacolor pencils.  😉

I learned a lot from my experiment with different mediums.  I learned NOT to use a water brush as I don’t have any control with it.  (I can’t stay within the lines).  I struggled with the Inktense pencils to get them to blend with other mediums.

I also learned to trust my instincts when it came to color and NOT coloring every doodle!  I hope you check out Annie Glacken’s doodles here that she did recently in watercolor.  My favorite is her Hummingbird!  🙂

You may recall my doodle progress where I last left off that you can find here.

Here is the completion of this doodle:

I tried to vary my color by creating depth and movement in my patterns.  I would love to know what you think!

Happy creating!!  🙂
