Kick Up Your Heels

I have been wanting to try a collage idea from this book:

So yesterday, I decided to kick up my heels (so to speak) and give it a try!

It was fun to experiment.  I tried to create this piece quickly and not overthink it – easier said than done.  😉

I’d love to hear what YOUR reaction is…  feelings, thoughts, ideas?  Please share!

Cheers!  🙂

P.S. I will be creating a series of collages this week.  PLEASE stop by and share your thoughts with me!  Thanks!

Tree Shapes

I am waiting for my art supplies to arrive in the mail for my tree class that I told you about yesterday so I decided to explore the shape of trees with some quick sketches.

I purchased this used book from Amazon recently:

It’s silhouettes of tree images helped me greatly!  Here are a few more tree shapes that I colored with color pencils:

One of our assignments for the class was to draw a continuous line of trees – I have to say this is very addicting!

And another one:

There are so many tree varieties in shape, form and color!  So fun to explore…

Happy Drawing!  🙂

Strange Bedfellows

Bob’s dreams were starting to keep him awake at night:

Strange Bedfellows

I seem to be having strange dreams lately…

This was my inspiration for this post.  LOL!

The weird creatures are blobs of watercolor paint.  I learned how to create these imaginary animals from Carla Sonheim.  She has an excellent book called, “Drawing and Painting Imaginary Animals,” that I just love!

I added details and shading with a pencil and color pencils.  Bob is an old photo – a mystery man.  His pillow is a gelli-print and his bedspread is a doodle I did and copied.

My dad used to tell me, “Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite!”

Sweet Dreams!  🙂
