Wacky Animal Prints

I had fun creating more Gelli-Plate Prints recently for the online class with Carla Sonheim.

After making an animal head as a stencil, our assignment was to cut it into four unequal quadrants and make monoprints.

Like a puzzle, pieces could be added or subtracted on each layer so the final prints were a little bit of a mystery.

Next, we were to add paint pens to complete our animals.  I used Posca paint pens which are opaque and cover most surfaces.

Below is one wild hare print before and after the paint pens:

We had the option to add eyes or a nose so I also included a bow tie! 😃

Below is a pig I did – before and after:

And two more, they look like “party” animals to me!

I also created some face “masks” in spirit of Halloween.  I hope to post them tomorrow.

I hope these wacky animal prints give you a smile today!

Cheers! 🙂

A Summer Sampler

When I was at the lake this last weekend, my friend Marsha showed me a beautiful needlepoint sampler that she was in the process of completing.

I so enjoyed seeing all the different stitches and threads in Marsha’s artwork!  It reminded me of needlework embroidery that I used to do.  🙂

After I completed this drawing – inspired by the patterns in a book that I showed you previously, here:  A Rosy Review

I decided to add watercolor to give it some spark:

And a Summer Sampler was done!  Much quicker than stitching but it would be fun to try with thread.

Cheers! 🙂

Mr. Rabbit, Mr. Rabbit

I created this mixed media collage last year when I took Lynn Whipple’s online class called, “The Joy of Collage.”

Mr Rabbit collage

I had so much FUN!  If you’d like to try collage, I’d suggest her class.  She is repeating it, starting June 9.  Here is the link.

I wrote this little poem to go with the bunny photos I took this weekend at the lake.

Mr. Rabbit, Mr. Rabbit                                                                                                   How are you today?                                                                                                       Your ears are kind of floppy,                                                                                         Your fur a little gray.

Your tail is extra fluffy                                                                                                 When you hop about and play.                                                                                    Your nose a little funny,                                                                                                      It twitching constantly.

Mr. Rabbit, Mr. Rabbit                                                                                                  Time to hurry on your way –                                                                                             It’s been nice to chat with you,                                                                                        But I know you cannot stay.
