One “Grape” Fish

I have been singing the song, well, not really THE song (MORE like the first stanza…)  I Heard It Through The Grapevine,” by songwriter, Marvin Gaye all day.

I think this whole grape thing started with Jenna’s post on Friday, Pour The Wine.  If you have not met this talented artist, cook and my friend at The Painted Apron – I do hope you check out her blog!

Here is my one “Grape” Fish:

Wishing you a HAPPY Sunday!

Cheers!  🙂

Name That Fish!

Perhaps you remember my “put a BEAK on it,” birds?  If not you can find some of them here:  Chicken ‘A La King

Today I have “put a FIN on it,” fish!  I thought you might enjoy naming them:

Both are fun to create with scraps of paper and a little imagination… A fun project to do with children!

Cheers! 🙂

The Muscle Fish

Do you ever feel like you have to do a TON of heavy lifting?!

Well, today’s FUNny Fish feels like he is stretched to his max!

Remember when life gets a bit hairy…

Sometimes it helps to laugh! 🙂

Carnivals, Clouds And Cats

My blog title sounds like it could be part of the lyrics from Joni Mitchell’s song, “Both Sides Now.”  😉

However, my post today does involve some illusions… and imaginary fish!

The Carnival Fish was created by making copies of my “Bearded Hat Fish,” that you can find here:  What Rhymes With Weird?!   My copier was about out of ink so the fish is more yellow in color than my original.

IMG_3337

I made two copies of my fish and lined up the images together in one stack.  I then cut 1/2 inch strips being careful to keep my images in the order of my design.  Next, I glued the two exact image strips next to each other on a piece of heavier paper with a glue stick.  This gives it the affect that reminds me of the mirrors in a carnival thus the name.

The Cloud Fish reminded me of the lazy days of summer and seeing shapes in the clouds…  My haiku says, “Lazy Cloud fish swim, Above the sea in blue skies, Slowly passing by.”

IMG_3373

I created it with color pencils and Copic markers.  What other images do you see in the clouds beside the fish?

My Jack Fish is a drawing of my cat, Jack – you can see a photo of him here: Why A Cat Needs An Umbrella    My cat loves to eat canned cat food – especially FISH!  (No, he doesn’t actually eat the whole fish but it makes for a good drawing.) Lol!

IMG_3376

There actually is a REAL fish called a Jack fish!  Did you know that?!

I hope you enjoyed my imaginary fish!  Maybe they will inspire you to create with your imagination.

Cheers! 🙂

FUNny Fish Fry-day

I decided to add a new series to my blog with funny fish!

Fridays or as I will call them, Fry-day will be a great day to have FUN with some weird fish… and end your week with a smile! 🙂  (I hope!)

Today’s fish is the name of a REAL fish that I found on Wikipedia’s common list of fish from A to Z – The Bigeye Square Tail…  I added my own artistic touch to it of course!

I hope this fish “lures” you into a FUNtastic weekend!

Cheers! 🙂

Seven Fish Haiku

I learned this technique from Carla Sonheim to create a drawing with just seven lines.  Carla calls it a haiku drawing, I call it FUN!  🙂

I created seven different shapes of fish – each one with just seven lines in my sketchbook:

Next, I brushed some watercolor paint onto my Gelli Plate and stamped it onto my paper.  I love the unexpected results of this technique!

I like that the Gelli Plate is available in a variety of sizes now such as this one which is 3 x 5 inches:

Have you ever used a Gelli Plate for stamping or monoprinting?  I’d love if you shared your experience with me!

Cheers! 🙂

Raining Fish

Well, it isn’t exactly raining fish but we FINALLY got some rain last night!  YAY!!

I took this photo of a dark cloud from my deck last evening with promise of more rain:

I thought you may enjoy seeing my “fresh catch of creative fish” that I have posted on Instagram recently:

I have been trying different art mediums – the shadows were an unexpected surprise in this one:

And I’m enjoying mixing in some humor:

Trying my hand at watercolor in my art journal:

And creating a silly paper collage:

Hope you enjoyed seeing my variety of fish that were on the menu this last week!

Cheers! 🙂

Mustache or Beard?

Perhaps you remember the Beard Fish?  If not, you can find it here, What Rhymes With Weird?!

Today I have another weird FISH:  The Mustache fish:

I’m enjoying the #create50fish challenge on Instagram!

Happy Weird FISH Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

A Rainbow… Trout

I had a lot of fun asking “fisherman” at the lake yesterday what kind of trout I drew in my art journal… (before I wrote the name).

I got several answers.  Two fisherman thought it was a Cutthroat, three guessed a Brown trout and one got it right!

IMG_3094

Yep, you guessed correctly too!  Of course it is a Rainbow Trout – Just look at the background colors!! Lol!

Happy Fishing! 🙂

Catch The Fun

I hope you join in the fun…

IMG_3063

And create a fish a day!!

The FISH art project begins September 1st through October 31st – which gives one a couple of days to “throw out the net” but let one or two “fish” art projects escape!

As I posted previously, you can find it here:  Fishing – A couple of friends and I created this mixed media art challenge for fun!

I will be posting on Instagram with the hashtag: #create50fish if you want to join in!!

Happy Fishing!  🙂
