Put On Your Dancing Shoes…

Did you know that my hubby and I took 3 years of ballroom dance lessons?

We learned to dance the waltz, fox trot, swing and tango!  We took evening classes from our local community college several years ago.

I haven’t danced in quite a while so I thought today was a good day to…

Put on my dancing shoes!!

I hope you join me in doing the “Birdy Boogie” for Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

Play That Funky Music

Why do you think this bird is dancing?

I look forward to hearing your response!

I will share my answer next Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

Life Is A Dance

The recent passing of my father-in-law has brought memories of my own parents and their deaths.

Before my own father died – 5 years ago, my sister and I were reminiscing on childhood memories.  One that I remember vividly as a child was my father dancing in his socks and me standing on his feet, hanging onto his pant leg – I felt so grown up!  And I thought I was dancing!  😄

Here is a photo of my sis and I as little kids:

My sister was almost 4 years old in this photo and I was just four months shy of turning 2. I think this was about that age when I used to dance with my dad.

The older I get in life, I learn that – Life is a dance and you learn the steps as you go!  I’d like to believe that I’m getting a wee bit wiser.

Happy Dancing!  ❤️

An Elegant Dancer

My painting of a Red Crowned Crane was inspired by my father-in-law who enjoyed ballroom dancing:

Also known as a Japanese Crane, it is renowned for their spectacular and elaborate courtship dances – usually performed in pairs.

This Crane symbolizes long life and since my FIL lived until he was 87 , it seemed fitting!  Dancing became the highlight of his life in his later years which I’m sure helped him live a long life too.  😃

I sketched my painting in pencil and then outlined it with a Micron pen on 140 lb cold press watercolor paper – painting it with gouache.

Happy Dancing!  🌟🌟🌟
