I recently purchased this large painting surface from Dick Blick called, “Ampersand Aquabord.”
If you aren’t familiar with this surface it is made for watercolors, acrylics and mixed media. It has an absorbent surface and slightly textured that is archival and acid-free.
I purchased the 1-1/2 cradled panel so that I can hang it directly on my wall without paying for additional framing. It is rather large but I’m wanting to let go and paint!
Onto my subject matter…
These Lupines are growing in my yard. I took several photos to learn more about their leaves and plant structure. Aren’t their colors luscious?
My Lilies are not in bloom yet… accept ONE bloom!! This flower seemed to be saying, “Ha! I want to be part of the picture!”
And last but certainly not least, one needs a little energy snack while they create… my favorite candy is this red licorice!
I am creating this painting for my bedroom that recently got a “make-over” with new paint, carpet and furniture for my 35th wedding anniversary that I posted about here: Hello May!
What is your favorite flower and snack?! Please share!
Happy Creating! 🙂

I am finding that working on more than one letter of the alphabet at a time is helping me stay on track for the daily watercolor and collage series challenge I have given myself for the month of July.
Working ahead also takes the pressure off…
After all, this is supposed to be FUN, right?!
I like how these kites turned out for the letter, “K”…
I can remember kite flying when I was a child, how about you?
This is one of the parts that I am enjoying about this challenge for myself, experimenting with different ideas to achieve the end results…
Like using my gelli-printed collage papers for the clouds! 🙂
Can you guess what letter, “L” stands for?
You got it! Lilies!
And a Ladybug!
Did you see the Green Metalic Bee on the Lily?
I discovered this bee really exists! I probably would not have discovered it IF I hadn’t been photographing it!
Isn’t NATURE grand?! It opens the mind to all sorts of new things…

I love these dwarf variety of yellow Daylilies that I have growing in my yard:
I decided to sketch them with a brown Micron pen before I painted them in watercolors as you see in the photo below on the left. I then cut simple shapes from paper that I previously painted with watercolors to create a more freeform design on the right:
I had fun experimenting in my art journal on a cool Sunday afternoon.
Happy Painting! 🙂
