Stay CALM And…

Since today is National Tell A Story Day, I decided to combine it with my Weird Bird Wednesday

Harold flew in just in time to help me today…

“Hello Harold!  So nice of you to stop by and help me plant my flowers today!”  I said exuberantly.

“Why of course,” said Harold as he started scratching in the dirt with his feet to make room for my flowers in the planter, “I wouldn’t miss it!”

“You know I am very fond of flowers,” chirped Harold as he perched on a tree branch next to me.  “They add so much color!  And some even attract my friends, the Hummingbirds.”

“Why yes, Harold,” I agreed as I tucked my flowers into the dirt. “Do you have a favorite flower, Harold?”  I asked.

“Why yes I do, Ms. Jill!  I love Violets because in the fall I like to spread the seeds all over,” said Harold flapping his wings.  “Then everyone gets to enjoy them!”

“Thank you Harold for spreading the love of flowers!”  I exclaimed as Harold flew off in the sky.

Now you know how Violets, like these flowers – show up in unexpected places…

So, “Stay CALM and Garden On” like Harold.  🙂

A Garlic Recipe

I realized today that I don’t really have the correct colors to paint garlic in watercolors.  In other words, I need a better recipe!  Well, if all else fails, my motto is add paint splatters!

I added a few color pencils at the end.

Speaking of recipes, I wanted to share one of my favorite ones using garlic.  I used to get these recipe cards in the mail and I loved them because they have a picture of what the food is supposed to look like on one side and the recipe on the other side:

I usually add fresh parmesan cheese at the end.  Hope you enjoy it!

Happy Painting!  🙂

No Butts About It

Did you know that today is National Scrabble Day?

I decided to play along and join my friend, Charlie at Doodlewash in celebrating a National day today with a doodlewash.  If you want to know more about Charlie or a doodlewash, please check out his awesome blog!

Did you know that Alfred Butts invented the game, Scrabble?  I had no clue…(oh, that’s a different game!)  Mr. Butts was a shy statistician with a degree in architecture, a mathematical mind and an aversion to spelling – go figure!  If you’d like to learn more about this letters game, I’d suggest you check out Wikipedia at this link:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrabble

Since today is also Charlie’s birthday, I decided to create this message for him:

No butts about it, Charlie is an FANTASTIC artist and a great friend!

HAPPY Birthday Charlie!  🙂

A Joyful Bird

I chose a Hummingbird for my “Draw A Bird” day.  A special thanks to Nina and Kerfe at Method Two Madness for hosting this month’s challenge.  Be sure to check out their blog as they will be compiling a list of participants who created a bird today.

Here is my Hummingbird in a fine black Sharpie and watercolor:

Did you know that a Hummingbird gets its name from the vibration of its wings as it hovers or flies?  Unlike any other bird, a Hummingbird can fly backward, forward and sideways.

Don’t forget to hum as you go about your day.  May the vibration bring you JOY!

Happy Creating!  🙂
