Yesterday, I decided to challenge myself with creating faces from pieces of collage paper in my sketchbook. I used scrap pieces of my gelli-printed paper, text from old books such as a dictionary, scrapbook paper, sheet music and a postage stamp! 🙂
Here is my beginning:
And my finished piece:
I was having so much fun I had to add a couple more faces! Do you have a favorite?
Perhaps I will inspire you to give it a try! Happy Monday!

I have been reading about drawing faces from various sources and decided to try a go at a more “realistic” selfie using my new set of Rembrandt Soft Pastels:
I have only used soft pastels for drawing flowers so this was a bit of a stretch for me!
It helped me to focus on the “shadows” when drawing my face and NOT see it as a face – or MY FACE, eek! That’s really scary as I would spend waaay too much time focusing on wrinkles and double chins…
OH, I see I’m digressing! Lol! 😉 Here I am in my red glasses:
So I’m proud of myself for completing this first “REAL” selfie and to posting it here and on Instagram!!

I love the abstraction in Picasso’s faces. It continues to inspire me for the 100 day project on Instagram.
The one below, I used color pencils for color and patterns – I was feeling tired when I created it:
And Neocolors II for this one – I used a Picasso drawing from Pinterest for inspiration:
I like Picasso’s use of bright colors and his abstraction in his faces. Pinterest is an excellent source for his artwork.
Happy Weekend! Cheers! 🙂

I was drawing facial expressions from my imagination today:
Very FUN to do with charcoal:
I purchased this book from Amazon that helped me with this exercise:
And here are a couple of BLIND contour drawings that totally cracked me up:
What am I thinking?
