I enjoyed my blogging break for the last two weeks… Although I couldn’t stay away from reading so many of your creative blogs! ๐
I am looking forward to a new month… December is here! And Christmas is just around the corner… Hoorah!
Someone put a “bug” in my bonnet in the last couple of weeks and I have been drawing these bugs from my imagination:
I started with their imaginary “hats” from my Gelli-printed papers or copies of my own artwork.
I drew my imaginary bug in pencil before adding permanent pen.
There is something wonderful about creating from your imagination. It is so freeing!
Lastly, I added color pencils to give these bugs a little pizzazz…
Which bug(s) do you like?
Cheers! ๐

I have been drawing mushrooms and creating them as imaginaryย characters…
The mushrooms are based on REAL images… But I changed some of the names!
Yesterday, I mixed up my bird shapes from a previous post: A Trendy Bird?ย with a copy of my mushroom character parts:
I arranged the parts to create a weird bird. This one made me laugh!
So I created my finished bird with a mixture of drawing and gelli-prints:
The “morel” of the story is…
Som(e) brero mushrooms can make a FUNgus weird bird!
Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!
Cheers! ๐

One of nature’s art subjects I enjoy drawing and painting…
Mushrooms!
Paper collage using Gelli-plate prints from old books:
When Pete Hillman recently posted a photo of Rosy Bonnet mushrooms…
I had to try drawing them in pencil and color pencils in my art journal:
Paper collage came next (first photo) and tomorrow, I hope to try watercolor!
I’m having fun exploring this mushroom in different art mediums…
Thanks Pete for the inspiration with your awesome photos!!
What art subjects from nature grab your attention?
Cheers! ๐
Today’s weird bird is shaping up to be…
HIP as in hippo:
And ROCKIN’ as a Robin:
Does this make it a trendy bird? (Combining hippo and bird shapes)
Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!
Cheers! ๐
P.S. Next week I will continue with some “chic” birds!

I’m enjoying the assignments from my online class, Creating Simple Characters with Nelleke Verhoeff.
It was primary fun to color these characters with yellow, red and blue color pencils:
I encourage you to draw characters as things from your imagination!
Cheers! ๐

Today’s weird bird is a little off key…
A Typewriter bird is rarely seen anymore, only during extreme “white outs” does this bird return.
Do you remember this shifty bird?
Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

I wanted to show you my September square-a-day project for the first 12 days of this month.
I am limiting my art medium to watercolor or markers and a little collage.
Like finding the toy in a box of Crack Jacks, each square holds a collage surprise, can you find it?
Happy Friday!
Cheers! ๐

Today’s weird bird was a mixture of paper scraps randomly chosen from a basket…
Just add fun seemed like a good title!
What would YOU name this bird?! I hope you share it with me.
Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!
Cheers! ๐
Sometimes it is relaxing to explore different watercolor paint combinations without creating a masterpiece!
I was inspired by the colors in a Pier 1 Autumn catalog I recently received in the mail.
Although I’m not ready for Autumn yet in temperature…
I did enjoy looking at the colors in this advertisement!
I read somewhere that magazine covers are good inspiration for exploring color combinations because the editors want you to buy their magazines. Let their research in color explorations work for you!
I especially liked the colors on this page:
I didn’t try to duplicate the colors exactly. Just experiment!
Adding plastic wrap to the wet watercolor gave it great texture:
I had fun mixing colors of paint and letting the colors mingle on my paper. It helped me to slow down and enjoy the process.
I’m not done with my exploration but I thought you might enjoy seeing my process.
Happy color explorations!
Cheers! ๐
