Ahoy Matey!

Avast ye!  (Listen up!)

It is that time of year again to go, Trick er Treatin’ and collect some treasure! (Candy)

Last year, I carved a pumpkin, you can see my post here:  Sir Earhand, A Ghost And Frank

This year, I decide to draw one:

I remember many childhood years of “Trick or Treating” in our neighborhood and filling a plastic pumpkin bucket full of Halloween candy.  How about you?

When we returned home, my sister and I always had to dump out all our candy on our pink bedspreads and compare our “booty” er, candy!!

I think my older sister was a pirate one year…  we usually had create our costumes instead of buying a one.  One of my favorite memories was when my sis dressed up as Granny… but that is for another year!

Yo-ho-ho! (Hahaha)

Happy Halloween to the child in all of us! 🙂

50 Fish FINale

YAY! I did it!!  🙂  I created 50 fish on Instagram before October 31st!!  WHOOT!!

Perhaps you remember the art challenge with two creative friends started on September 1st that I told you about here, Catch The Fun

I enjoyed creating a fish almost every day in a different art medium.  (Click on “Fish” in the drop down of catagories on the right of your screen to see more).  It became a real challenge to come up with a new way to create a fish each day!

Some fish, I wanted to throw back into the creative pool…

And some I envisioned differently…

But I decided as long as I was having fun…

Then I was HAPPY!

Sir Earhand, A Ghost And Frank

I carved my pumpkin yesterday and named him, Sir Earhand – The Great Pumpkin!

I’m not sure if he has ears or hands!  Lol!  I had fun carving him and look forward to roasting pumpkin seeds in the oven.

I found this old photo of me as a ghost (I’m almost 2 years old) with my older sis, a black cat.  🙂

And perhaps you remember, Frank from last Halloween?

Wishing you a Happy Halloween, friends!  🙂

The Old Neighborhood – Part 1

Do you ever drive by your old neighborhood where you grew up?  I do from time to time.  I was raised only about 30 minutes from my current home.

I created this short story from the art I did in an old book, as part of the “Word Play Painting Class” I took online from Lynn Whipple.

It was a cool fall day in late October when Ellen decided to take a short drive –

Past the home where she was raised in the old neighborhood –

The new owner had changed the house color but everything else looked much the same.

Ellen remembered her childhood friends and all the times they went “Trick or Treating” in the neighborhood –

Dressing up in handmade costumes of cats, ghosts and little old ladies…

Ellen was about ready to drive away when the lady next door came outside to get her mail.  Ellen was surprised to recognize her neighbor, Dee Dee – as she thought she had moved away –

Dee Dee

Ellen hopped out of her car and waived hello to Dee Dee!   When Dee Dee saw Ellen, she broke into a wide grin.

They started chatting and Dee Dee invited Ellen into her home for a cup of coffee –

Reruns of the show, “Super Cat” were playing on the television (rather loudly I must say) so Ellen was thankful when Dee Dee turned the volume off –

As Ellen sat down on the couch, the phone rang.  Dee Dee was answering the phone, when Ellen noticed a ______ in the room!  (Now it’s your turn to help complete Part 1 of the story in a clean, humorous way).   I hope you play along…

I will post my ending to the story in Part 2 next week!

Happy Storytelling!  🙂
