Weird Weather

Spring brings such weird weather and today was no exception!

I woke-up to two inches of new SNOW!! What a surprise!

These weird birds were surprised too… One bird in particular!

What do you think the other birds are saying?

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

Snuggle Bug

I like making AND receiving handmade cards…

How about YOU?!

I made this card for my husband’s birthday recently:

The holidays are not always easy…

Snuggle someone you love today, even if they bug you a little!

Happy Wednesday AND Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!

Cheers! 🙂

A Weird Bug?

I interrupt this blogging break…

To show you this strange bug that appeared in my art journal:

Wednesday’s can be about weird birds…

And weird bugs!

One never knows what creative bug will land in my sketchbook next…

Happy Weird “Bug” Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

A Tropical Bird

It feels like winter has arrived in the Pacific Northwest…

So this tropical bird showed up for today’s weird bird:

It was so cold outside that my cat hesitated, not once, but 3-4 times to go outside! Brrr!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

P.S. Speaking of tropical, I have decided to take a short blogging “vacation” until the end of November. You will find me snuggling with my cat to stay warm!

A Zinnia Bird

I have flowers on my mind for my August Square-A-Day project.

So it seems fitting that this colorful weird bird blossomed in my art journal recently:

A Zinnia Bird

A mixture of watercolor and collage, I hope this bird brightens your day with a smile!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

Orange Crush

I have been drinking green smoothies each day for about a week to try to increase my energy.

I was at the grocery store on Monday, buying ingredients for my smoothies when I saw this weird bird!

I had an orange crush on him so I had to buy him!  My cat checked him out when I got home…

I placed him in my yard so I could see him outside my kitchen window:

I got to thinking how I could dress him up a bit, perhaps he needs a bit more color?

Or maybe he is more of a red dazzler?

I hope he gives you a smile today like he does me!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Safe!

Since Baseball season is underway, my husband is a big Seattle Mariners fan…

This weird bird came out of left field today…

C7814C5C-6090-4E63-975C-39153552F838

And crossed home “plate” just in time to be called, Safe!

Baseball Home Plate Trivia:

Did you know that prior to 1899, any round object could serve as as home base?  (At times a dish even served as home base which may have led to its alternative name, “home plate.”

In the 1899/1900 season, home base changed its shape to a 12×12 inch square to match the other bases.

The pentagon shape that is used today was developed in the 1900/1901 season by Robert Keating.  The biggest advantage of this new shape was that it made the edges of the strike zone more visible to pitchers and umpires and therefore, improved the consistency of calling strikes.

Do you think this weird bird is a St Louis Cardinal or a Baltimore Oriole?

Hope you hit a grand slam this week!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

A Sunny Smile

I am taking a short blogging break.  This morning I am having laproscopic surgery on my right hip to repair a labral tear.

I have been trying to prepare for surgery the best I can.  The freezer is full of food, the house has been cleaned and I have lots to read and art videos to watch!

I know that whatever clouds may send…

There’s a sunny smile waiting for me from you, my friends!

May you give away a sunny smile to someone who needs it today! 🙂

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

The Speedball Bird

Sharon Mann at MakeArtMagicHappens and I recently exchanged hand-painted collage papers.  It was so fun to get Sharon’s delightful, creative papers in the mail! 🙂

We thought it would be fun to share the papers we received from each other today AND create a wacky, weird bird with our new papers!

Below is my bird as it developed next to Sharon’s gorgeous papers…

I added pencil shading to give my bird dimension.  I love the bright colors Sharon used in her papers here:

Sharon creates in a wonderful variety of shapes, patterns and playfulness in her papers (can you find the bird?!)

Adding the final touches, can you find the 3 pen nibs I collaged to the bird’s feathers?

Sharon makes her “pen and ink” drawings sing like the color collage in the middle:

I finished my bird by adding color pencils:

The Speedball Bird

I encourage you to share your art with a friend.  It may open up new ideas and possibilities!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

P.S. Thank you Sharon for this fun exchange and challenge!  I enjoyed it soooo much!
