This Little Light Of Mine

This little light of mine… I’m going to let it shine!!

Isn’t wonder to be different!  Just like these trees…

As Taylor Swift says, “Your lucky enough to be different, never change.”

And my favorite quote:  “The things that make me different are the things that make me.” – Winnie The Pooh

Celebrating the things that make each of us unique!

Cheers!!  🙂

It’s A Jungle Out There!

These trees are a bit on the wild side!  Like the collages I made yesterday with magazines, today I decided to cut around the shapes so I could play with their background colors:

And then I added some patterns with color pencils:

I found that contrasting background colors really made them sing!  Much like a previous color experiment I did last April with the Bee-Eater Bird that you can find here.

Do you have a favorite tree or color combination?  I’d love to hear from you!

That’s Incredible Too!

My magazine collage from yesterday helped me create these drawings today in my art journal:

I mixed up the order from this collage:

I drew my shapes with a black .01 Micron pen and the shaded with pencil. I like to use a blending stump to shade my pencil.

This exercise helps “train” my eyes to draw the shapes I see and not what I think I see. It also helps me learn how to shade my images to give them dimension.

And it gives me new ideas for my doodles!

I found that I liked the simple shapes best!  What about you?  I’d love to hear what you think!

Happy Drawing!  😄

Incredible!

I love looking at different patterns, shapes and colors in magazines. So tonight, I decided to cut out the ones that really spoke to me and glue them in my art journal, here is the result:

Isn’t it incredible?!  😊

I started by creating a grid in my 9×9 inch art journal:

This gave me the size to cut from my magazines:

I then glued them into the squares with a glue stick.  It helped to have more images than I needed.  I added some smaller images to cover the lines.  I really enjoyed doing this exercise!

I hope you will join me tomorrow to see how I use this collage to give me ideas for my art!

Some of the magazines I used were cooking, craft, decorating, clothing and gardening.

Happy Creating!  😃

Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder – Part 1

I started making these magazine collages in 2007:

Beauty - Eye of the Beholder

I had some old Lapidary Journal magazines.  At the time I was doing a lot of beading.

Strange bird mag collage

So these were really fun to make!  Adding old photographs was a new experiment:

Robin a rare bird

Of course I had to add a little humor!

The birds - mag collage

The above one reminds me of the Alfred Hitchcock movie, “The Birds!”  That movie gave me nightmares for days as a kid.  🙂
