Cold Soup

I’m not a big cold soup fan, how about you?

Yet, I’m kind of fond of this weird bird, Gazpacho!

And his cousin, the Bottle bird:

Of course I had to try a bird (or two) with yesterday’s staple method… Perhaps those houses were for the birds!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Hope I gave you a smile today!  Cheers! 🙂

Fixer Uppers…

I’ve been wanting to create these “fixer upper” homes with scraps of collage papers…

IMG_2056

It was an assignment in Carla Sonheim’s “365 Video Every Day” online class that  I’m doing this year.

Super fun to use a stapler instead of glue.  I encourage you to give it a try!

Happy Building!  Cheers! 🙂

Play Ball!

I had fun adding some collage papers to my faces I posted yesterday…

I used my gelli-printed deli papers, a little scrapbook paper and some features from magazines.

Here are my favorites with a caption under the pictures:

Surprise!

You say what?!

Play ball!!

Hope these give you a smile today!

Cheers! 🙂

Starlings Java

I wonder if a bird drank KAWF-ee …

Would it order it to go from the “fly-by” window at Starbucks Starlings Java?

IMG_1375

Would it order one shot of expresso or two?

I suppose that would depend on the species of bird…

“I’ll take a Tall, Skinny, Half-Decaf, No-Whip Mocha, please!”

How do you like your coffee?

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday! 🙂

P.S.  I enjoyed reading your responses for my dancing bird last Wednesday!  I got my boot off my foot and I can start wearing a shoe again!  Hoorah!!  A good reason to dance!  🙂

A Duck Eating Pasta?!

I thought you might enjoy this silly limerick today with an Italian spin:

IMG_1200

Leda Commellini used to serve her homemade Chicken Cacciatore to her friends at her home so she wouldn’t be lonely.  Later, her Italian recipes became well-known in Spokane, Washington when a restaurant was opened called, Commellini’s.  The restaurant is closed now except for private events but you can still purchase some of Leda’s famous sauces at the local farmer’s market.

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday, Mama Mia!

Cheers!  🙂

Pink Phlox

My hubby gave me an Easter bouquet with pink Phlox which got me thinking about flocks of birds…

IMG_1115

Imaginary birds that is!

I love the “phlox” in this photo too:

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!  I hope this gives you a smile today!

Cheers! 🙂

A Heart For Art

As many of you know, I LOVE color!!  When Carla Sonheim assigned a self-portrait for her year-long class, I couldn’t resist creating this paper collage of myself:

IMG_0949

I realize it is MORE than just a self-portrait but after I saw a video about the Seattle artist, Kelly Lyles,  I decided to go WILD with color and patterns.

Perhaps you have heard of Kelly Lyles for her art cars?  Well, she also likes to dress, very colorfully!  😉

I hope to start wearing clothes with more color and patterns and care less about what others think!  How about you?  Do you like to dress conservatively or just have FUN?

Cheers!  🙂

The Hoppy Bird

I have been “hopping” around the house recovering from foot surgery.  I have a new appreciation for walking with two feet!

I have a “knee walker” which is like a scooter to move around the house so I don’t have to put weight on my left foot.  This would be a lot more fun if I didn’t have foot surgery! My foot is wrapped in gauze and a bandage that I am not supposed to remove until I get my stitches out in about 10 days.

I can only walk on my heel of my foot boot which has 3 Velcro straps to attach to my foot.  Velcro is an awesome invention except when it sticks to everything BUT where you want it to stick!  Especially when you need to use the bathroom rather quickly… lol! 😉

I am starting to hop around in my boot more with a cane for balance because the scooter is starting to become less fun to maneuver.

I was encouraged to see the word, “hop” was next to the word, “hope” in the children’s dictionary for today’s weird bird.

I am hopeful that surgery will help me to enjoy walking again in time!  Thank you for all your good wishes and prayers for my recovery!

Hoppy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers!  🙂

Glee Club

I have a collection of old photos of people I don’t know… it is fun to use them in my art!

Like the Flower girls:

They look like they could be members of a Glee Club!! Hope it gives you a smile today!  🙂

Cheers Friends!!

A Flying Fish?

This strange fish is a member of the “Spring” flying fish family…

img_9406

Its idea “sprang” from this book written by Carla Sonheim:

img_9401

In her book, she gives the idea to draw images that join together on a page but then to cut the page in the middle so you can mix and match drawings.

I decided to take her idea a step further and create my own little booklet with computer paper:

img_9397

And instead of drawing my imaginary animals, I decided to collage my gelli-printed papers and dictionary definitions or old recipes to create…(you guessed it), Weird Birds!!

The vertical lines I drew in the middle of my cutting line will help the shape of each body to match with my other pages.  Here are some other “preliminary” weird bird shapes:

img_9404

I think it will be so fun to take this booklet to work with me and finish adding details with pencil!

img_9405

And when I’m all done, I will cut the middle of my pages to create a whole flock of weird birds!!

Isn’t it wonderful when one idea sparks into a whole gaggle of ideas?!!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday, Friends!!  🙂
