Yesterday, I decided to challenge myself with creating faces from pieces of collage paper in my sketchbook. I used scrap pieces of my gelli-printed paper, text from old books such as a dictionary, scrapbook paper, sheet music and a postage stamp! 🙂
Here is my beginning:
And my finished piece:
I was having so much fun I had to add a couple more faces! Do you have a favorite?
Perhaps I will inspire you to give it a try! Happy Monday!

The Surfer Bird has become extinct and is now known as a shore bird…
Perhaps you have seen a Surfer
Bird dude hanging out near your favorite beach with the shore birds!
Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Thank goodness this Birthday bird showed up last week!!
Just in time to celebrate my hubby’s birthday! 🙂 Which happened to arrive on Thanksgiving day this year…
So happy it showed up in time with Turkey day and all! Lol!
My husband used to be a wheat farmer before we got married. I found a dictionary definition and illustration from a children’s dictionary on a plow which seemed perfect for him:
Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!!
May your day yield a field of happiness! Cheers! 🙂

Do you ever feel like you get all the jigsaw pieces to fit together in a nice, neat little picture and then someone comes along and disturbs it… and all your pieces go flying!! 😉
You are left in a scramble like these scraps of paper:
I started by randomly gluing scraps of my Gelli-prints with a glue stick to a piece of paper like I did here.
There is something rewarding to just laying out your pieces to a jigsaw puzzle. Maybe it is the anticipation in solving the puzzle? 🙂
I then use a pencil to accent each shape and a blending stick to blend the pencil to give the shape dimension. As you can see I am about halfway done in this photo:
This is not a fast process – kind of like searching for that end piece in ALL those 5000 puzzle pieces! But it helps me process information. It gives me time to think about my options…
My puzzle is complete although it looks totally messy. Kind of like life I guess…
Sometimes life’s puzzle pieces fit together easily and other times nothing seems to connect! But you just keep looking for the pieces because you know there is a bigger picture in the end.
Cheers Friends! 🙂

This Furphy bloke showed up on my doorstep today for Weird Bird Wednesday:
Isn’t he a beut?! You can be sure it isn’t a Lyre bird!
Word of the Day: Furphy – (noun) Australian – A false report, rumor
A Lyre bird is known as the best mimicking bird in the bird world. It is from Southeastern Australia and has the ability to imitate the songs of 20 species of bird. Yet, what amazes me is this bird’s ability to imitate a whole range of sounds other than birdsong.
Check out this YouTube video and tell me how many different sounds you hear!
Well, enough yabber for today, wishing you a ripper day in the outback!

The Wafflestomper bird is often seen while hiking in the wilderness. This bird is recognizable by its footprints and flannel checkered feathers…
Happy Weird Bird Wednesday, friends!!!
Hmm, I think I’m hungry for some waffles now! Lol! 🙂

I decided to try a new approach for my tree collages today. Remember the trees I drew a week ago? Well, I made copies of the black and white images and used them as part of my collage papers for my trees!
And everyone knows, an apple a day keeps the doctor away! But what about a collage a day? I think it keeps the Creativity Zapper away!
An apple and pear tree:
Oh, and I almost forgot! I used my gelli-printed deli papers and my Prismacolor pencils to add a touch of color.
A weeping cheery and orange tree:
Do you have a favorite? I’d love to know what you think!
Hug a tree today! 🙂

Some days I struggle with what to draw and write in my art journal. Does this happen to you too?
Yesterday, I didn’t have much time to create so I gave myself this challenge:
It got me thinking about cre8ting art with numbers. Lots of possibilities here! Maybe you would like to play along in your own art journal?
The scraps of paper are props for the start of an animal or face. What would you draw?
The bingo numbers are a prompt to write about a game that involves numbers. Did you have a favorite card game? Perhaps you remember playing Bingo?
The measuring tape box is for making a list of anything but it needs to involve numbers.
And the smallest box is your box of magic – make it anything you’d like – but it does need a number in it! Perhaps you’d like to write your favorite number in it?
I hope to show you my completed journal page on Saturday! Stay tuned 4 sure!
Happy Journaling! 🙂

Q: What starts with an A and ends with an M?
A: Half a collaged alphabet of course!
Can you guess all the different ways I created my letters?
I will share my answers with you on Monday, January 11th – so stay tuned!
