What Did You Do?

What did you do this last weekend?

I got caught up on two online class videos on Saturday and started two pear paintings.  I used a limited palette in watercolors and found this to be a challenging exercise using only complementary colors…

My first one was using yellow and purple:

And my second color PEAR-ing was orange and blue:

I struggled getting the affect I wanted or maybe I was trying to hard to be PEAR-fect!

Does this ever happen to you?

After MANY layers, I decided to quit and eat my pear for a snack! Lol! 😉

I got caught up on some housework on Sunday and made a delicious Chicken Tortilla Soup in the crock pot.  Overall, I’d say I had a pretty great weekend.

How about you?

Cheers! 🙂

Perifish

I invented this word, perifish.

I thought it was an interesting word for this post about a pear and a fish.

I was experimenting with Rembrandt soft pastels yesterday and this wild pear apPEARed:

Do you think it is of the Rainbow variety?

And Sennelier extra soft pastels for this colorful fish:

It looks like a happy, Clown fish to me!

Color always brightens a cloudy day for me – I hope it brings you a smile!

Cheers! 🙂

A DisaPEARing Act

Yesterday’s post is a hard act to follow but I’m going to give it my best shot!

The shape apPEARed first… so I added patterns with a black Micron pen:

Next, I added color sparingly with watercolor:

And finished it with pencil shading to add the PEARfect dimension:

PERhaps you remember my 3 Pear Doodle from last year?  You can see it here.

Thank goodness Friday is here or should I say, has apPEARed!  Lol!

Cheers!!!  🙂

Fruitful Patterns

Remember the watercolor I posted on Tuesday of a pear and apple?

Well, I wasn’t totally thrilled with it… so I decided to experiment and add some color pencils to it.   Using my Prismacolor pencils, I added different colors in a basket weave pattern:

I finished it by adding more patterns for the shadows of the fruit and squiggles (a very technical term, lol) to the bottom half of the painting:

I really like how this turned out!  What do you think?!  I’d love to hear from you!  🙂

Happy Experimenting!  :-)))

Fall Fruit

I decided to pick some fall fruit for a watercolor still life:

Pear and apple photo

So I chose a pear and an apple!

Here is the first layer of paint:

1st layer of paint

The apple looks a bit like a tomato…

So I added more paint:

Layer 2

Pretty frustrated with the apple… maybe I should take a bite out of it and be done with it!  LOL!

So I added some shadows and background and overworked my fruit a bit more:

Not my best work… but the pear was really good for dinner on a spinach salad!

Happy Painting or Eating!  :-)))
