Signs Of Spring

I saw a Quail in my yard the other day poking around underneath a fir tree.

Our snow is melting and lately we are having warmer temperatures in the 40’s. It felt like signs of Spring and inspired me to create this mixed media collage in my sketchbook:

I know the male Quail has the top plume but I couldn’t resist giving him a dress! I drew the Quail’s head and feet.

I was also inspired by the collage artist, Katherine Streeter. I hope you check out her art at KatherineStreeter.com She is also on Instagram. She has a playful style that I really enjoy. She helped me “think outside the box.”

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

May you be inspired to create something different today!

Cheers! 😃

Hamming It Up?

Today’s weird bird is hamming it up!

I have several old cookbooks that came in handy for today’s collage…

I was inspired by this children’s card game: CREATURE CLASH

You match a front, middle and back card to create a weird creature like the one I did below:

Part Hammerhead, Platypus and Flamingo, it’s a HAM-TY-GO!

Sounds like ordering a ham sandwich to go…

I must be hungry! Lol!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 😃

Easter Flowers

I started a watercolor recently that reminded me of colorful Easter eggs:

Then I added some flower doodles to my watercolor with a micron pen:

The flowers were inspired by this bouquet of Easter flowers:

Wishing you a happy Easter!

Cheers! 🙂

A Thingamabob…

I haven’t forgotten today’s weird bird

It is A Thingamabob and A Thingamajig!

Now where did I put my car keys…

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

May it be a memorable day for you!

Cheers! 🙂

Learning To Fly…

Learning to fly..

Is never easy!

A silly little drawing to give you a smile today!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

Slow And Steady

Hi Friends,

I am feeling a little stronger each day. My total hip replacement surgery was two weeks ago.

I am using a walker to walk around my home and hope to graduate to a cane soon. Tomorrow I see my surgeon to get my bandage off. YAY!

I created this weird bird to give you a smile today:

It is very colorful and wild which tells me I’m getting back to my old self which makes me happy.

One day at a time is my motto these days. I hope to catch up with your blogs soon. I have missed you, friends!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers!

Rosie

There once was a bird named Rosie,

Who liked to pick pink posies,

Rose glasses she wore…

Leg bangles galore,

She even colored her toe-sies!

I haven’t done a Limerick in awhile… I hope Rosie gives you a smile today!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

Stuffed Animals

I created this drawing based on the words from the assignment I told you about in my last post, “This might be impossible to read but it was fun to make.”

I had so much FUN drawing the stuffed animals and hiding the words.

Here is a close-up of the animals and words so you can read them.

Sometimes I don’t try ideas because I think they may be impossible to do! I’m glad I gave this one a try because I discovered stuffed animals are really quite easy to draw.

What would you like to learn to draw or paint if you didn’t have any obstacles in your way?

I hope you give your ideas a try!

Cheers! 🙂

A Game Changer

I am very excited about Carla Sonheim’s year-long online class for 2020!

It is called, “Words and Pictures.”

For the first assignment, I used the phrase, “This might be impossible to read but it was fun to make,” using a game theme:

I am hoping this class will be a game changer for me and help me write a children’s book!

If you are interested in Carla’s class, you can watch a 3 minute intro video at CarlaSonheim.com

Cheers! 🙂

Art Journal Prompts

I like to give myself art challenges.

Yesterday, I had a few minutes to experiment in my 9 x 12 inch Canson mixed media art journal.

I started by writing the date and drawing some random shaped boxes on my paper:

Next, I worked quickly so I wouldn’t overthink things.

I added paper collage, doodles and creative prompts to work on later such as a dictionary word and paint sample name:

I will show you my completed journal page later this week! I encourage you to create your own art journal prompts to get your creative juices flowing!

Cheers! 🙂
