Is Your Glue Bottle Half Full?

I’ve been working on my postcard art over the weekend that I told you about in my last post.  (Hint:  There is still time to participate in my free drawing… Just add a comment in my previous post!)

I used both positive and negative shapes in my design for this postcard:

It got me thinking about glue… I use a LOT of glue in collage.

Sometimes I get “stuck” on the negative of life, perhaps this is when my glue bottle is half empty?

Yet, I do try to focus on the positive… even when life is extra “sticky” and the glue makes my fingers stick together.  I’ve heard some people won’t do collage just for this reason alone!  😉

I don’t mind when the glue sticks to my fingers as it reminds me of my childhood when my glue bottle was ALWAYS half full!  And so was my imagination!

How about YOU?

Cheers! 🙂

Eyes And Noses

I recently started an online class that is completely out of my comfort zone.

I love the colorful art of the teacher, Ardith Goodwin so I decided to give the class, “Distortion of Eyes and Noses” a try!

I thought you might enjoy seeing how I created a whimsical eye yesterday from one of the assignments.

I started with a watercolor background to give me inspiration.  I drew a quick sketch in pencil.

I used the pencil sketch to get my creative juices flowing.  I added details with a black permanent pen and additional color with Tombow markers.

I finished by softening the watercolor around the eye with gesso and a quote:

I encourage you to change the way you look at things!

Cheers! 🙂

Circles Of Joy

If I was to describe my art journey in seven words today… I’d say; “Creating art with JOY makes me happy!”  🙂

How would you describe your creative journey in seven words?   And if it isn’t where you want it to be in your life – maybe write it as YOU envision it!!

Cheers!  🙂

A Creative Mind

I like to invent, create and make my ideas work!

A Possibility Girl

I created this above artwork inspired by the artist, Danielle Donaldson and her book, “Creative Girl – Mixed Media Techniques For An Artful Life

But I hate to admit it, I’m not very good with social media…

I have learned soooo much from all of you, my blogging friends that I thought I’d ask you some tips about INSTAGRAM!

I know many of you use it!  I just signed up but I could use your tips on how to get started!  😉

Thank you!

Keep inventing ideas in your art!  🙂

Sunny Sundays

This year I’d like to create more balance in my life.  This may mean something entirely different for you but for me I’d like to have one day a week to slow down, reflect and smell the flowers so to speak!

I have decided this day will be Sunday, so I’m calling it my Sunny Sunday.

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.  Psalm 118:24

Sunday will be a day for me to read a book, write, go for a walk, take a nap or curl up with our cat on the couch.  It is a day for sunny thoughts too – so my post will be something positive such as a quote, Bible verse or poem with a little art or photograph of nature.

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Gal. 5: 22-23

I will be scheduling my post in advance so I can take a day off from blogging too.  I enjoy blogging but I need a day off from the computer.  A day to recharge my own batteries – a day to unplug.

Let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them ever sing for joy.  Ps. 5:11

May you have a Sunny Sunday and I look forward to catching up with you on Monday!

Cheers!  🙂

P.S. These photos were taken in my backyard in December 2015.  Can you count how many little birds are in the last photo?
