An Artful Exchange

I just love Sharon Mann’s sunny art, don’t you?

I was delighted to receive her postcard art recently in an artful exchange through the mail!

We each created six postcards, 4×6 inch size in any art medium.  (I forgot to take a photo of mine so you will have to look at Sharon’s blog). 😉

Perhaps you remember our other artful exchange?  If not you can find it here:  The Speedball Bird

I enjoy making art in this “postcard” size so I’m sure you will see more of it!

Thank you Sharon for brightening my day with your cheerful art!

Cheers! 🙂

Is Your Glue Bottle Half Full?

I’ve been working on my postcard art over the weekend that I told you about in my last post.  (Hint:  There is still time to participate in my free drawing… Just add a comment in my previous post!)

I used both positive and negative shapes in my design for this postcard:

It got me thinking about glue… I use a LOT of glue in collage.

Sometimes I get “stuck” on the negative of life, perhaps this is when my glue bottle is half empty?

Yet, I do try to focus on the positive… even when life is extra “sticky” and the glue makes my fingers stick together.  I’ve heard some people won’t do collage just for this reason alone!  😉

I don’t mind when the glue sticks to my fingers as it reminds me of my childhood when my glue bottle was ALWAYS half full!  And so was my imagination!

How about YOU?

Cheers! 🙂

Happy Mail

Yesterday, I worked on creating some happy mail

I made three postcards to exchange with classmates in “2019 Year of the Collage,” online class with Carla Sonheim.

Dear Mom…

A friend’s mom was having a birthday and asked for postcards with cats to wish her a happy day.  It was easier for me to use postcards that were cut and ready for art.

I decided to combine collage using gelli-printed paper and Neocolors water-soluble crayons (since they happened to be next to me.)  Here are the ones I did for her mom:

They were so much fun to make that I decided to create several for my mother-in-law too!  She loves flowers! 🌷

I know I enjoy receiving cards in the mail so I think she will too.  I will make several in advance so I can mail one a week.

Who do you know that would love to receive a postcard in the mail with your art?

Cheers!  🙂

Circle Of Friends

Remember the paper circles that I recently posted?  If not, you can find it here.

Well, one of the reasons I was cutting out circles was to make these 3 minute postcards:

An assignment from Carla Sonheim recently in her year-long online class was to create a quick postcard with these 5 perimeters:

  1.  Use a round piece of collage
  2.  Add a drawing that interacts with your circle collage
  3.  Add a splash of watercolor paint
  4.  Add a word or two – I used rubber stamps
  5. Add the color, orange

And here are a few more postcards I did:

Some days it’s fun to give yourself perimeters to create art!  And postcards are great because you can send them to a friend and say, hello!  🙂

I hope you take time to play and create something fun for you today…

And maybe put a stamp on it and send it to a friend!!

Cheers!! 🙂
