A Snowy Owl

It has been snowing a lot in the Pacific Northwest where I live…

And look who showed up today! All dressed in holiday attire:

This weird snowy owl knows how to keep warm!

I went for a walk all bundled up at Priest Lake, Idaho last weekend:

Lucky for me it was only 23 degrees and not the 7 degrees that is predicted for tomorrow!

I do think the snow is beautiful, especially at the lake.

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday and a Merry Christmas!

Cheers!

Weird Weather

Spring brings such weird weather and today was no exception!

I woke-up to two inches of new SNOW!! What a surprise!

These weird birds were surprised too… One bird in particular!

What do you think the other birds are saying?

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers! 🙂

Where Is Spring?

It is hard to believe that Spring will be here in two months where I live in the Pacific Northwest!

We recently got about a foot and a half of new snow!  So pretty when it is fluttering down from the sky but not so pretty when the snow plower piled the driveway with a huge berm yesterday…Ugh!

I finished my doodle from last week!  YAY! 😀 If you didn’t see that post, you can find it here:  A Little Doo-da-ling

It was super fun to work on it a little each day when I had a few minutes:

And the finishing touches:

I added two colors of color pencils to complete it.  I’d love to hear what you think!

Happy Friday!

Collage Exploration

I recently purchase this book from Amazon:

71D81A81-2E61-4365-9887-CF3AD7380D2C

It has some fabulous ideas that have sparked my imagination!

Such as this collage exploration:

It was inspired by the recent “winter storm” we got over the weekend!

Yesterday, I did some organizing of my art supplies.  It inspired me to create these three collages that I glued in my art journal:

Each collage above has hand-stitching, can you find it?

Cheers! 🙂

Hot And Cold

My sister-in-law made us these beautiful potholders that arrived in the mail yesterday… just because! ❤️  A wonderful surprise. 🙂

I just love the colors and patterns and stitching… I’m not sure I can use them for hot foods as they are too pretty!

And speaking of cold… we woke-up to 8 inches of new snow yesterday morning! 😮

I guess winter isn’t done with us in the Pacific Northwest.  Time to make a homemade pot of hot soup on a cold day!

Cheers! 🙂

Do You Have A Favorite Poem?

I’m starting an online class tomorrow that I am very excited about!  Carla Sonheim is hosting an online poetry and mixed media art class with Lendon Noe called, “Making Meaning:  Inspired By Poetry.”

I am excited about the mixed media techniques Lendon Noe will be teaching in her class and also learning what poets and poems other students in the class enjoy.

One idea Lendon shares in her intro video is taking a section of a poem and illustrating it.  This is what I tried to do below with one of my favorite poems by Robert Frost, “Stopping By The Woods On A Snowy Evening.”

Morning temperatures dipped into the mid 30’s this weekend so it seems we have skipped Autumn and gone straight to winter here in “my neck of the woods!” Lol!

Do you have a favorite poem or poet?  I hope you share it with me!

Cheers! 🙂

The Daily Mews đŸž

I created this in my art journal on Tuesday.  Carla Sonheim gave us the assignment for her year-long online class to create a headline describing our day.  I decided to write it from my cat’s perspective.

I went online to fodey.com to create my fake newspaper article.  It was a lot of fun!  I typed it on the computer too because I thought it may be difficult to read in my post.

I think a fake newspaper article would make a fabulous one-of-a-kind greeting card for someone!

Cheers!  🙂

P.S.  Jack said to tell you, “I hope you keep your paws dry today!”

A Turkey In February

My hubby took this photo of a turkey that was hanging around at the church next to his office yesterday.

It isn’t every day you see a turkey in a church parking lot…

Apparently, the turkey wasn’t aware that they aren’t allowed at church because they use FOWL language.  Haha!

I see a future weird bird, how about you?  😉

Wishing you a happy weekend!

Cheers!  🙂

Mr. Snowman…

I wanted to try building a snowman (or perhaps a snow bird) in our yard yesterday… but the snow was too fluffy.

Here I am after falling into the snow… luckily, I saved the camera! Haha!

So I came inside and drew a snowman instead!  I started with a blind contour drawing to warm-up…

And added a little watercolor.  They look kind of cute in their childlike way.  🙂

I was now ready to create Mr. Snowman:

I started by stenciling the background with acrylic paint and added a little glitter.  Glued my gelli-printed papers to my paper.  Added pencil shading and detail.  Finished it with pan pastels to soften the ground.  I believe we are never too old to build a snowman!!

Cheers with a nice, hot cup of cocoa!!  🙂

Carousel Of Lights

Carousel of lights,

Forgetting winter’s cold bite,

Brings our eyes delight!

My hubby and I were at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho yesterday.  I took these photos outside at the marina.  The resort puts on a Christmas light show every year.

img_9224

I enjoyed looking at the mountains too and how peaceful the lake is in winter.  We did see one boat on the lake in 12 degrees!  Brrr!  Too cold for us!

Wishing you a day to relax and enjoy the beauty around you… wherever you live!

Peace Friends!  🙂
