Two Lips

If you were to describe Spring with two lips … I mean colors, what two colors would you choose?

I’d choose Prismacolor Pencils; Spring Green and Rose pink…

How about you?

What art medium and name describe the colors best for you?

Happy Spring!  (Wishful thinking…)

Cheers! 🙂 🌷

Crabapple in Opera Rose

I just love Winsor and Newton’s Opera Rose!  Such a brilliant pink – a perfect color to paint my flowering crabapple in watercolor that I drew previously here.

I tried to paint it looser and added a few splatters at the end.

Now, our second crabapple tree in our yard is blooming… with all the rain we had this Spring, it is “buzzing” with new growth!  I have never seen this tree so full of blossoms.

I have a new subject to paint.  YAY!

Cheers!  🙂

Instant Summer

Seems our weather in the Pacific Northwest has gone from a cool Spring to above 80 degrees in one day!  Ugh!!  I do like warmer weather but prefer gradual increases in temperatures…

Here is a doodle I did a while ago but I haven’t posted yet:

My cat loves the sunshine but even he was too hot to be outside this afternoon!  Lol!

Happy Friday!

Cheers! 🙂

Flowering Plum Tree

We are FINALLY getting some warmer Spring weather in the Pacific Northwest!  The flowering trees are just starting to bloom like this ornamental plum tree:

I wrote a haiku to celebrate:

A Springtime delight!

Wishing you a Sunny Sunday!

Nature brings new hope.

May you find peace in your heart today!

Happy Easter! 🙂

Bulldogs And Butterflies

Yesterday, I watched our local college basketball team from Spokane, Washington; Gonzaga win their first game at the NCAA championships in Phoenix, Arizona.

Gonzaga beat South Carolina in a close game, 77 to 73.  This is the first time that Gonzaga Bulldogs have made it into the Final 4 tournament so it was great fun cheering them on!

On Monday, they play against North Carolina for the championship!  Go Zags!!

I haven’t painted a subject in watercolor in awhile so I decided to participate in the World Watercolor Group challenge and paint a butterfly – no fooling! 😉

I’m not totally happy with my results.  I added a little Irridescent Fine acrylics to add shine to the gossamer wings…

Next, I tried to fix it a bit with color pencils and I’m not sure I like it much better!

Some days you win and some you lose…

Are you a basketball fan?  Who is your favorite team?

Cheers!  🙂

The Hoppy Bird

I have been “hopping” around the house recovering from foot surgery.  I have a new appreciation for walking with two feet!

I have a “knee walker” which is like a scooter to move around the house so I don’t have to put weight on my left foot.  This would be a lot more fun if I didn’t have foot surgery! My foot is wrapped in gauze and a bandage that I am not supposed to remove until I get my stitches out in about 10 days.

I can only walk on my heel of my foot boot which has 3 Velcro straps to attach to my foot.  Velcro is an awesome invention except when it sticks to everything BUT where you want it to stick!  Especially when you need to use the bathroom rather quickly… lol! 😉

I am starting to hop around in my boot more with a cane for balance because the scooter is starting to become less fun to maneuver.

I was encouraged to see the word, “hop” was next to the word, “hope” in the children’s dictionary for today’s weird bird.

I am hopeful that surgery will help me to enjoy walking again in time!  Thank you for all your good wishes and prayers for my recovery!

Hoppy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers!  🙂

Moonrise

Sometimes I like to put brush to paper in watercolor without thinking about an outcome.

This experiment I did in my art journal recently.  As winter fades and Spring awakens:

IMG_0599

The colors in nature change from greys and blues to greens and yellows.

I also painted similar colors and patterns on Lutradur in watercolor.  This photo tells you about this product if you haven’t heard about it.

IMG_0601

The product can be used in sewing and paper arts. It feels like a heavy interfacing used in sewing.

I cut out a few strips of the painted Lutradur and glued them over my watercolor paper.  I like the subtle contrast with the paper.  I added a gelli-printed circle to represent the moon.

Have you ever used Lutradur?  I’d love to hear how you have used it!

Cheers!  🙂

The Puddle-Jumper

Perhaps you have seen this bird lately in your neighborhood?

IMG_0595

Around here it means that Spring is just around the corner…

Time to put on your galoshes and jump some puddles!!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Cheers!  🙂

P.S. Do you see any animals in the puddles or clouds?

Just Leaf It

We are having a really late Spring this year.  So I have been doodling leaves in my sketchbook, dreaming of warmer weather:

IMG_0580

Perhaps you remember me starting this as a watercolor on a previous post?  If not, you can find it here.

It was a fun “branching out” and trying things in a different order.  However, I like creating the doodle first and then adding color, what do you think?

Cheers!  🙂
