A Walk In The Park

It was an amazing fall day yesterday in the Pacific Northwest!  Hubby and I took advantage of this blue-sky day by taking a walk at Manito Park.

It seems that everywhere we looked, nature was showing her glorious autumn colors:

It was wonderful to see so many people out enjoying the day… we saw people taking family photos, several dog walkers and many people just breathing in the beauty like us.

It was easy to put the busy work week behind us when we were dazzled by these colors as they reflected on this pond:

And with such a spectacular photo like this one:

Life’s troubles seemed to disappear.

Wishing you a moment to reflect on the beauty around you today…

Cheers! 🙂

Painting On Vacation – Part 2

This is the second post of my art journal paintings I did while on vacation at the lake.  I posted the first week, here.

On Sunday, July 24, I saw four Evening Grosbeaks in a neighbor’s cherry tree at the lake so this was my inspiration for Monday’s drawing on July 25:

I added a few color pencils and white gel pen to my bird at the end.

Tuesday, I skipped a day in my art journal because I did a mixed media painting from Carla Sonheim’s FREE Kid’s Art Week that I posted last week on my blog, here.

On Wednesday, July 27, I was inspired by the purple color and shape in the wildflower, Fireweed to create this abstract feather:

Thursday, July 28th, I wanted to paint the quiet beauty that surrounds me at the lake so I painted this picture and later added a Bible verse:

On Friday, July 29, I was experimenting with gouache and was inspired by the circular shapes and colors in my flowers to created these swirls of patterns:

Saturday, July 30th found me floating in the boat and enjoying the lake!  I was inspired by the clear, natural water to paint it:

On Sunday, July 31st, I celebrated 31 days of painting with watercolor for World Watercolor Month by painting a bottle of wine and one glass.  I added a little pizzazz to the background with one of my Gelli-prints:

I hope I inspire you to paint on your next vacation!  I found it very relaxing and a perfect way to remember my time at the lake:

A Pile Of Pinecones

I thought you may enjoy a day at the lake with me.  So grab your sunglasses…

Chimney Rock

This is Chimney Rock.  You can see there is still snow on the mountains.  I will never tire of this view at Priest Lake, Idaho.

Oh, look – the wild strawberries are in bloom!  I look forward to the sweet burst of flavor in these little red gems:

Ah, the sun feels so good, doesn’t it?  You can see it reflecting off the water.  Not much wind today just a gentle breeze.

Come on, let’s go to the beach!  I saved you a chair right by the water so you could relax and breathe in the fresh air…

And watch the waves gently caress the rocks and sand –

As you and I get ready to leave, you notice the wild rose bush unfurling its tender green leaves.  New birth next to the dead, dried rose hips from last fall.

We linger for one last moment, next to a pile of pinecones.

Listening to a woodpecker tap a tree, its rhythm reminding us that it is time for us to leave, this place of heaven on earth.

(No birds today – I will make-up for it tomorrow!)

Happy Creating!
