Relax!

It was “rewarding” to complete a page in my Alphabet Journal this week…

But then I “realized” that there was something missing! ūüėģ

“R” you wondering WHAT that is?!

Well, while I was preparing for my weekend “retreat” at the lake, I discovered a “remarkable” feather…. so I got out my bird feather book:

And in my “research” I discovered the identity of the “Rare” bird from Wednesday:

I hope this gives you a smile today! ¬†ūüôā

Relax and enjoy your weekend…

Cheers Friends!

A Turkey In February

My hubby took this photo of a turkey that was hanging around at the church next to his office yesterday.

It isn’t every day you see a turkey in a church parking lot…

Apparently,¬†the turkey¬†wasn’t aware that¬†they aren’t allowed at church because they use FOWL language.¬† Haha!

I see a future weird bird, how about you?¬† ūüėČ

Wishing you a happy weekend!

Cheers! ¬†ūüôā

Very Gouda

I was having some wine with¬†friends recently…

When this Gouda bird showing up:

I’ve heard that these birds hang out where wine and hors¬†d’oeuvres are¬†served.

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!

Wishing you a very Gouda day… Cheers! ¬†ūüôā

A Flying Fish?

This strange fish is a member of the “Spring” flying fish family…

Its idea “sprang” from this book written by Carla Sonheim:

img_9401

In her book, she gives the idea to draw images that join together on a page but then to cut the page in the middle so you can mix and match drawings.

I decided to take her idea a step further and create my own little booklet with computer paper:

And instead of drawing my imaginary animals, I decided to collage my gelli-printed papers and dictionary definitions or old recipes¬†to create…(you guessed it), Weird Birds!!

The vertical lines I drew in the middle of my cutting line will help the shape of each body to match with my other pages.¬† Here are some other “preliminary” weird bird shapes:

I think it will be so fun to take this booklet to work with me and finish adding details with pencil!

img_9405

And when I’m all done, I will cut the middle of my pages to create a whole flock of weird birds!!

Isn’t it¬†wonderful when one idea sparks into a whole gaggle¬†of ideas?!!

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday, Friends!!¬† ūüôā

3 Cheers!

There are several reasons to celebrate today!  So I created a painting in anticipation of the weekend.

Here is my beginning or what I’m calling the “appetizer stage” of my painting:

I started with a simple sketch using a black micron pen and added watercolor pencils.

For the “main course,” I softened the watercolor pencils with water:

And for “dessert,” I added some pan pastels to the background with a stencil:

I found an all¬†natural and odor free¬†fixative at Dick Blick called Spectra Fix that worked well to¬†set the pan pastels.¬† I’d highly recommend it!

Here are some of the reasons I am celebrating today:

It’s FRIDAY!¬† Wahoo!!!¬† And the beginning of a 3-day weekend

World Watercolor Month starts today!  3 Cheers to Charlie at Doodlewash.com for organizing this event!!

The weather is cooling down!¬† It has been in the 90’s and it will be in the 70’s at the lake!

More time to paint in watercolor –¬†like these Friday Flowers

We will be celebrating our freedom with friends, good food and fireworks !!

How will you be celebrating today?!¬† I’d love to hear from you!

Enjoy your day!¬† ūüôā

The Flapjack Bird

A friend made us cottage cheese pancakes at the lake this weekend which gave me the idea for today’s Weird Bird Wednesday

The amazing Flapjack can condense its body almost as flat as a pancake when it senses the flying Frypan close by:

When I was a child, my dad used to¬†pour the pancake batter¬†into creative shapes.¬† I don’t remember any birds however.¬† Lol!

I hope this gives you a smile today!¬† ūüôā

Pass the syrup, please!!
