I was having some wine with friends recently…
When this Gouda bird showing up:
I’ve heard that these birds hang out where wine and hors d’oeuvres are served.
Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!
Wishing you a very Gouda day… Cheers! 🙂

I created this picture totally with my Gelli prints:
I used one print to cut out the wine bottle, glass and cheese and another print as a background. I added a little pencil shading around these shapes.
This was totally unplanned! I wanted to show it to you framed but it didn’t quite fit in the mat:
I’m learning a lot about framing my own artwork and hope that I can share some of this information with you in the future.
I plan to take the weekend off from my blog as it is a 3-day holiday weekend in the states.
So I wanted to wish you some good cheer! 🙂
Happy Creating!

At the lake, several of our friends gather at 5 o’clock for Happy Hour. It really is a chance to talk and get caught up with everyone and share some laughter. Everyone brings a snack to share and what they want to drink. Some people just drink water but my hubby and I usually pour ourselves a glass of wine. White or red – we like them both! 🙂
I created this in my art journal this summer. It is a blind contour drawing (my eyes were closed and no I didn’t peak!) After I drew it, I splashed on some watercolors – and yes, my eyes were open for this part. 😉
I like how the soft colors blend, don’t you? Kind of like a winemaker blending his grapes together to create a varietal of wine…
I’d like to create this painting on a larger piece of watercolor paper and frame it.
Speaking of framing – do you cut your own mat board for your artwork? I purchased a couple of mats today with the intention of matting some of my art but the mat opening didn’t fit properly. Any ideas?!
Cheers Friends! 🙂

I’ve been drawing faces of girls in my sketchbook lately as part of an assignment for the online class I’m taking from Carla Sonheim, “Y is for Yellow.”
I started with the hair first for these gaggle of girls:
And I really surprised myself! These look like REAL people! LOL! 🙂
The next faces I drew started with the eyes first:
I think all my drawing practice is starting to pay off! I am starting to enjoy drawing people.
Remember the bookmark that I submitted to Uppercase Magazine at the end of January?
Well, it didn’t get selected for the magazine but it is available for a free download if you subscribe to their free newsletter! Here is the link if you want to sign up:
It is pretty cool to see my bookmark with all the other 300 bookmarks for the contest – LOTS of creative people out there!
Happy Drawing and Reading! 🙂

I’m happy to say that I have FINALLY made a decision! YAY!
The bookmark that I am going to submit to Uppercase is….
Yep, the wine and cheese! 🙂 I softened the background colors and decided I like this one best as it represents the art I enjoy making! Lots of color and patterns!
I’d like to thank ALL of you who so graciously shared your ideas with me! As a way to show my gratitude, I’ve decided to give away my chair bookmarker below:
So if you’d like to WIN this original bookmarker – please make a comment below. I will make the drawing this Friday, January 29th at 6 pm PST and will post the winner on Saturday, January 30th on my blog.
Cheers to you, my friends! 🙂
