Hot And Cold

My sister-in-law made us these beautiful potholders that arrived in the mail yesterday… just because! ❤️  A wonderful surprise. 🙂

I just love the colors and patterns and stitching… I’m not sure I can use them for hot foods as they are too pretty!

And speaking of cold… we woke-up to 8 inches of new snow yesterday morning! 😮

I guess winter isn’t done with us in the Pacific Northwest.  Time to make a homemade pot of hot soup on a cold day!

Cheers! 🙂

A Turkey In February

My hubby took this photo of a turkey that was hanging around at the church next to his office yesterday.

img_0269

It isn’t every day you see a turkey in a church parking lot…

Apparently, the turkey wasn’t aware that they aren’t allowed at church because they use FOWL language.  Haha!

I see a future weird bird, how about you?  😉

Wishing you a happy weekend!

Cheers!  🙂

Cloudy Weather

I created this yesterday in my art journal with a new technique I learned from Carla Sonheim.  It says, “Cloudy with a chance of rainbows.” 🌈

img_9582

I used watercolor paint and a scraper to create this rainbow effect. I added my own touch with some gelli-printed deli paper clouds at the top of the page with a glue stick.

Our cloudy weather is producing lots of snow in the Pacific Northwest!

Happy Monday!  🙂

The Polar Bear Plunge

A local lake has an annual, “Polar Bear Plunge” on New Year’s Day.  Too cold for me to plunge into that freezing cold water…

So I decided to take a different approach with a warm-up blind contour drawing of a polar bear wearing a bikini… hehe!

img_9469

Before I dived in with this one and added some handmade stenciled snowflakes in my art journal…

img_9467

Hope it gives you a smile today!  🙂

Cheers!

Mr. Snowman…

I wanted to try building a snowman (or perhaps a snow bird) in our yard yesterday… but the snow was too fluffy.

Here I am after falling into the snow… luckily, I saved the camera! Haha!

img_9383

So I came inside and drew a snowman instead!  I started with a blind contour drawing to warm-up…

img_9386

And added a little watercolor.  They look kind of cute in their childlike way.  🙂

I was now ready to create Mr. Snowman:

img_9390

I started by stenciling the background with acrylic paint and added a little glitter.  Glued my gelli-printed papers to my paper.  Added pencil shading and detail.  Finished it with pan pastels to soften the ground.  I believe we are never too old to build a snowman!!

Cheers with a nice, hot cup of cocoa!!  🙂

Carousel Of Lights

Carousel of lights,

Forgetting winter’s cold bite,

Brings our eyes delight!

img_9225

My hubby and I were at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho yesterday.  I took these photos outside at the marina.  The resort puts on a Christmas light show every year.

img_9224

I enjoyed looking at the mountains too and how peaceful the lake is in winter.  We did see one boat on the lake in 12 degrees!  Brrr!  Too cold for us!

img_9246

Wishing you a day to relax and enjoy the beauty around you… wherever you live!

Peace Friends!  🙂

Ice Cube Birdy

I was thinking of the Hip-Hop song, “Ice Ice Baby,” by Vanilla Ice for today’s bird…

Well, not really… I was thinking the title of the song was “Ice Cube Baby!”  Lol!  🙂

img_9188

I tend to make up my own titles and words to songs… much like this imaginary bird!

The forecast is for extra “frigid” temperatures in the Pacific Northwest the next few days…  I think the birds will be thinking, “Ice Cube Baby!”

Happy Weird Bird Wednesday!!

Bundle up and stay warm for those of you who live where it’s cold outside and PLEASE send some heat if you who live where it’s warm!!

Cheers!!  🙂

A Snow Glow

We had several inches of snow this last weekend which made for this perfect photo opportunity:

When I went outside to take this photo at night is was so very quiet…It made me stop and just enjoy the “glow in the snow!”

Nature always has a way of making me stop and enjoy its beauty!!

Happy Monday!!  🙂

A Snow Globe?

I recently learned how to make handmade stamps using Adhesive Foam Sheets.  I will post how I made them soon!

These are the 2 handmade stamps I used for today’s project:img_9028

And here are my results in my art journal:

img_9030

I varied the colors of acrylic paints and added a little iridescent gold to the paints…

I finished it by gluing circles of gelli-printed deli paper and adding some purchased snowflake stamps:

It looks a little like a snow globe to me!  I was inspired by a post I did a year ago, The Snow Fell Softly, that you can find here.

Wishing you a Fabulous Friday, Friends!!  🙂

Autumn’s Memory Fades

I was inspired by Jodi at The Creative Life In Between to create this haiku for today.

Bare branches reaching,

Outstretched arms towards the sun,

Autumn’s memory fades…

img_8749

Days become shorter,

Frosty fingers leave their mark,

Freezing seed heads droop.

img_8656

Colors change from gold,

Paperlike flowers pressed,

Winter’s icy breath.

Wishing you a Sunny Sunday, friends!

Cheers!  🙂
