Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks…

What are you thankful for?

I am thankful for many things, especially “nature” and its ability to soothe my soul in all four seasons in the Pacific Northwest where I live.

I try to get outside for some fresh air each day, even if it’s just a walk to the mailbox.

My cat, Jack walks around the backyard with me on the days when the sun is shinning.

I recently created an autumn themed mandala in watercolor using some leaves from my yard as inspiration. I also added iridescent watercolor for some sparkle.

I finished my piece with color pencils. I think I will frame this one!

Many thanks to each of you for your likes and kind comments on my blog this year.

Wishing you a day filled with Giving Thanks!

Cheers! 🙂

  4. I love your colorful little leaf collection, Jill, and your spectacular mandala. I am thankful for the things that have remained constant during this crazy, including the refuge and inspiration that nature provides to me (as it does to you) and the people in virtual community that I have found thanks to my blog, people who support and encourage me even though we have never met in person.

  9. Happy Thanksgiving Day to you Jill. We don’t celebrate it here in Australia, but like most things American I am sure one day we will. I am thankful to have met you via the internet and you give me joy with all of your delightful artwork, today’s included. I have a good friend who has “loaned” me some tubes of Daniel Smith watercolours whilst I am waiting for my delivery from the UK (I couldn’t find anyone here who stocked the colours I wanted) and amongst them were two iridescent colours, gold and silver, I think I may need to order more paints, these are terrific, particularly when I was doing a. Christmas card for our grandchildren the other day.

    • Thank you Sally, I appreciate your kind words!! They bring me joy! 💗 I purchased the iridescent watercolor online. In case you are interested, the brand is Finetec. They are manufactured in Germany and use mica to add a little shimmer. What I like about them is you can paint them over other watercolor. I am curious what the gold and silver watercolor you have looks like, I will have to check them out. I’m thankful I have met you too online! xo

  15. I miss your Weird Bird Wednesday posts. My husband has started drawing fun birds for our granddaughters so I’m calling it Wacky Bird Wednesday. I hope you’re doing well. As the year comes to an end I guess we can be thankful that a vaccine will be available soon and perhaps life can get back to a new normal. I’m thankful that my husband has reignited his passion for painting after 45 years and that I’m becoming more focused with my own painting. Hugs and best wishes. Carol

    • Hi Carol! So nice to hear from you. I hope to start creating more “weird birds” in the new year. I like that you husband is drawing fun birds for your granddaughters. Wacky Bird Wednesday will be a hit, I’m sure! 😃 I’m doing well, thank you for asking. This has been a year of getting in better physical shape for me. I have lost weight which I am thankful. Yet, I haven’t done as much art. I have been reading a lot too. I’m hopeful that a vaccine will help and we can all get back to a new normal. So exciting to hear your husband is painting again and you can enjoy art together. Hugs to you too! 😍
